With his father working long hours at a studio, a young Denji occupied himself with the box set of Star Wars that they had, quickly becoming obsessed. It was seemingly perfect that his quirk allowed him to project visions of his movies. Denji quickly became a class favorite when recess let out and his friends and he would watch The Empire Strikes Back under trees by the swings. He was a natural-born ringleader who demanded the attention and appreciation of whoever was around. Noisy and boisterous, not to mention a cocky troublemaker, Denji’s personality hid the fact that he was not getting attention from the one person he wanted it from: his father.
His father wanted him to work in his studio, but Denji, instead, applied to Yuuei on a whim. He’d helped people with his projections before and loved seeing smiles on peoples’ faces. He was lucky he was able to walk, but his quirk was pretty much useless at the time, as his could barely look at a screen for more than fifteen minutes without getting a splitting migraine. Still, Denji was determined not to spend the rest of his life on the sidelines. He was still young and had a whole life ahead of him. Thanks to his costume designers, and a former teacher, he developed a pair of glasses that enabled him to watch screens and not get the headaches he’d been subjected to. Even after that, however, his projection duration was significantly cut. He decided to interview for a job teaching at Yuuei to compensate for the fact that no agency would hire him.
Even with the unsatisfactory way that his career as a pro ended, Denji Matsushima is not bitter. He continues life with a smile on his face and a bounce in his step. His eyes are red from too much screen time and have permanent dark circles under them. He has two silver earrings in his left ear.
Describe Their Ideal Date: Dinner and a movie. Maybe two movies.
How Clean is Their Room?: It’s called controlled chaos.
Costume Description: He dons a black leather jacket with tight jeans and rainbow-scheme converse. The leather jacket has circuit-designs to match his hair and plenty of spikes and chains. On his face is a pair of 3D glasses, with one red lens and one blue lens. They don’t allow him to see differently, rather, they protect his vision when he uses his powers, or else he gets huge headaches. Plus, they look cool.

Quirk: Theater Projector | He can create tangible illusions before his victims eyes and hold them there for a sustained amount of time! The catch is that he can only make illusions using movies or shows he has watched. His illusions are capable of trapping a victim, such as the maze from Harry Potter, or scaring the living daylights out of them, like his numerous scenes from The Conjuring.

Strengths:
1 - Matsushima’s (Cinema’s) quirk enables him to project images from his mind from any movie he has seen and remembers.
2 - Depending on his mood, he can use romance or horror movies to paralyze his opponents and trap them. His favorite scene to use is the fight between Luke and Darth Vader (because who doesn’t love a holographic metal man with a pointy plasma stick?).
3 - He can use soothing cinematic scenes to calm down disaster victims and help them to safety without panic.
4 - Matsushima can project certain characters who he is really familiar with and use them to scare off his victims. He’s known for projecting anything from Darth Vader to his own Minion army.
Weaknesses:
1 - Sometimes, he projects his mind when he’s sleeping and sometimes when he’s daydreaming.
2 - He can keep up his projections for a maximum of four and a half minutes, but only as long as he stays focused. If his concentration is broken, then his visions fade. The only movie he can keep up longer than that time, and in its entirety, is Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back.
3 - The more realistic he makes it, the less time he can use it. Cartoons are the easiest to project, but live-action is the hardest.
4 - He can only use visuals that he has seen and remembers well enough. This is sometimes a bit of a problem since he prefers comedy and romance movies.
5 - While the illusions can physically affect the real world such as trapping an opponent, they cannot cause harm.

Unfort,unately his parents separated and his mother, caring too much about her already-stagnating acting career, left him with his father. With his father working long hours at a studio, a young Denji occupied himself with the box set of Star Wars that they had, quickly becoming obsessed. The participants with the highest scores at the end of the exam will be considered for Yuuei’s Hero Curriculum. Be sure to remember that punching bad guys isn't the only way to be a hero.
