I have a tendency to get ideas for video games and not have the skill set needed to make them happen. But this time, it's a little different.
It's a Warriors cats fan game where you manage a clan. It's based on this game, but it's different enough that I think it deserves to be its own thing.
Most of it will be text based, simply processing inputs by the player. About on the level of Oregon Trail. I have a LOT of ideas for what I want to put in it, but as I said before, I simply don't have the skills to do this.
I can handle design, art, writing, sounds, music, UI design, mechanics, all that. The only thing I'm really missing is any sort of programming knowledge. Which is kind of important when you're making a video game.
I've tried Scratch and I'm taking a class for Unity and JavaScript now, but I really can't get a grasp on it. I get the basics, and I understand the limitations pretty well, but I simply cannot make anything robust on my own.
So.
How do I fix this? I see two options here; working with someone who handles the programming, or learning how to do this myself. I don't know how to work out either of those things. My friend-making skills are lackluster at best, and I don't have any money or income to pay someone. Learning to code is legitimately learning a second language, and I can't even remember the difference between the French words for "bed" and "milk".
I've thought about this for a while and it's something I really want to do. It's something that I think people would like! But I can't handle putting the pieces together.
Help? ;-;
