Before running out to join the main fray, Ciaram runs around the deck with the chunk of Kunzite crystal that he has been hauling around all this time, cajoling Dragons of each Flight to lend their breath into it, all at the same time. Yes, a terrible, potentially disastrous idea, especially if he dropped it, but that's just how Cia rolled. Living on the edge! If you happen to die while it happens, whelp! Thems the breaks!
This time though, he managed to run that edge quite nicely, and managed to collect all the Flights powers into the Kunzite with just enough time to spare on his little experiment. He didn't know what was effective against the Shadowy Outsiders; in their time on the Sea, they had found weaknesses to both the Ice and Spacey ones, but still weren't sure on the last of the trio. So, he figured, if he didn't know exactly what specific thing to throw at them, why not just throw EVERYTHING all at once? So, with his fully-charged, slightly vibrating,
definitely dangerous Kunzite in one claw, his Charged Tungsten in the other claw, and his Ancient Broadsword laying across a couple benches he'd pulled together on deck, he looked down to where Gruet was starring up at him curiously, his sharp little teefs sparkling in the multi-colored flickering light the Kunzite gave off.
"You might want to go duck in cover somewhere Kiddo. This little experiment may just blow your Pappy sky high, would rather you were out of the immediate blast zone." The little guy just flicked his tongue over his teeth once, and shuffled closer, foreclaws wrapping around one of Cia's feetclaws in a tight grip. Cia sighed. "Okay then Bud. Do or die time. Wind help us, this better work..."
And without further hesitation, he pushed both things down, into,
along the blade of the sword. There was a FLASH, of brilliant light! The call to CHAAAARGE sounded! The light strengthened, coalesced, shrunk, sharpened, that which was around it invisible against it's brilliance. And as it folded inwards on itself, honing down into a single long strip,
a blade, yet never dampening in it's luminosity, it moved, as if someone had picked it up.
Then, in a flash, it was gone, tilting over the side of the ship where Team Ayanami had gone, skipping across the water as if the feet of whomever was wielding it were lighter than air...
Well, it had worked better than he had expected, really! This thing was
AWESOME! Swinging his new-and-improved Ancient sword through yet another Shadow Outsider, wisps of it dissipating in the crackling wake of the blade, Cia let out the breath he had been holding as he danced several paces away. That part was important too, just as important as the glowing fancy fLight saber! The holding his breath part! Didn't want to be sucking in the Crazy Mist as he was cutting through it!
That was the plan he had worked out with Gruet and Bit, anyway. Bit didn't have to worry about breathing, being a Comet and all, and Cia was fairly certain Gruet needed air, to some extent, and he knew
he definitely needed air to continue living, so breathing had to happen sometimes. But if Gruet and Bit ran in first and distracted the Shadows in small groups, then Cia could leap in from behind and cut them down, then they could all retreat a little ways back to catch their collective breathe and get a new, good lungful to hold for the next foray. It was working pretty well, even though his head
was getting a little lighter. He could feel that too. The plan wasn't perfect, but they would make due. The Crazies would wear off later, they'd seen that happen too.
And they were doing good! At one point, they'd come across Orinda, just before a handful of Shadows were about to swoop in on her. They were dealt with fairly quickly, and the Fae had more than enough time to work out the Cheg-token to send out it's call for help. Moving on from there, the group of them had peeled back after feeling/hearing/seeing the Island Breaker Teams do their work. Now was the last part of the job! Protect the Breaker Crew's escape! Defend the Flank! He could already see clumps of Shadows moving together towards the epicenter of the nearest breakage. NOT ON THEIR WATCH!
As it was, there would have come a cacophonous battle-cry sounding from behind the Shadows as they converged to make their attack, but alas, Cia and his Ninja companions were too busy holding their breath, and cutting through their numbers like a hot kmife through butter, to make much of a sound.
