Dragons, Breeding, & Lair

How do I get more dragons?
New dragons can be acquired through hatching an unhatched egg, breeding your dragons, or purchasing dragons from other players on the Auction House.

How do I feed my dragons?
Gather food, then convert them into food points in your hoard. Keep in mind dragons eat food based off of their breed. You can see what a dragon eats by checking the Encyclopedia.

How do I breed my dragons?
You can breed your dragons by going to your Nesting Grounds and selecting a pair of dragons to breed, or you can select a dragon to breed directly from their profile.

Why can’t my dragons breed?
Your dragons will fail to breed if any of the following is true:
  • Your dragons are too closely related. Dragons need a five generational distance if they share a common ancestor in order to be able to breed with each other. If you are unsure if your dragons are too closely related, you may check their eligibility using Assay Bloodlines.
  • Your dragons may not have enough energy. Dragons need to have at least 80% energy (40/50 points) in order to breed.
  • Your dragons are breeds that are ineligible to breed with each other. Modern breeds can only breed with other modern breeds, while Ancient breeds are limited to only being able to breed with other dragons of the same breed.
  • Your dragon is currently on a breeding cooldown. You can check how long your dragon’s breeding cooldown is by hovering over the icon on their profile.

How many eggs can my dragons have on a nest?
Nests can have 1-5 eggs, depending on a few factors. Two modern breed dragons of the same breed can have nests with 1-4 eggs, while two modern breed dragons of different breeds can have 1-5. Ancient breeds, due to their breeding limitations, can lay nests with 1-5 eggs. The chances of nest sizes are as follows:

  • 5 eggs (5%)
  • 4 eggs (10%)
  • 3 eggs (45%)
  • 2 eggs (30%)
  • 1 egg (10%)

If you breed two dragons of the same species, this table is used:
  • 4 eggs (12%)
  • 3 eggs (40%)
  • 2 eggs (38%)
  • 1 egg (10%)

How do colors work?
On Flight Rising, the colors are arranged in a circular wheel. Take a look at this chart:
iu.png
[Click here to open the image in its original size.]

This may look overwhelming, but here's how to read it:
  • The inner circle is the old color wheel, which are the colors you can choose to give your custom progenitor dragon. An expanded color wheel was released for the game's third anniversary. You can read more about that update in this thread.
  • The outer circle is the expanded, and current, color wheel.
  • The additional squares attached to the colors are accent colors seen with the Basic gene.

Any site feature using a color range — including determining the color of a breeding pair's offspring or searching by a color range on the Auction House — will take the shortest route to get there. Here are some examples to demonstrate how this works:
  • You breed a dragon with the color Moon to a dragon with the color Splash. Hatchlings from that pair will have colors in the whites, greys, purples, and blue range starting with Moon and ending with Splash, working clockwise.
  • You breed a dragon with the color Maize to a dragon with the color Cerise. Hatchlings from that pair will have colors in the pinks and reds range up to Cerise, working counter-clockwise. The range does not expand a majority of the wheel.

Need help visualizing your breeding pair's color range? Use this tool, created by Peixes.

When will my hatchling grow up?
Hatchlings grow up on the sixth rollover after they have been hatched. An easy way to tell what date your hatchling will grow up is by looking diagonally on a calendar:

How can I get different eye colors for dragons?
You will only be able to hatch dragons from Nesting Grounds that match your elemental flight. In order to get different colors, you must rent a nest from someone in another flight.

What are all the eye types?

  • Unnatural: Swirl, Glowing, Dark Sclera, Innocent

We don't have exact or specific numbers for the rarity of each eye type, however we can infer the rarity tree of natural eye types based on the price of their respective eye vial item.

Judging by their Marketplace value, the rarities of natural eye types are like this: Common > Uncommon > Unusual > Rare > Bright/Pastel > Goat/Faceted > Multi-Gaze > Primal.

Can I change my dragon’s eye type?

Note: using “columns” will make your text size smaller.

The order of my dragons isn't correct!
There is an old bug that occasionally crops up where using the arrows on a dragon's profile cycles through your lair in an incorrect order. Should this happen, move your first lair tab after the second, wait for the order to save, then move them back.

What is the Hibernal Den?

[center][size=4][b][emoji=mystery bag size=1] Items & Currencies [emoji=mystery bag size=1][/b][/size][/center] [b]What is Treasure?[/b] Treasure is the main currency on the site. It is primarily used in transactions. You can acquire treasure by bonding with familiars, playing games in the [url=https://www1.flightrising.com/play/fairgrounds]Fairgrounds[/url], exalting dragons, and selling items. [b]What are Gems?[/b] Gems are the premium currency on the site. The easiest way to acquire gems is by [url=https://flightrising.com/main.php?p=ge]purchasing them from the site[/url], selling dragons and items, and opening specific chests. [b]What are Unhatched Eggs, and where can I get them?[/b] Unhatched Eggs are essentially orphaned eggs. There are 13 types of eggs, and you can obtain them the following ways: [list] [*]Elemental eggs: There are eggs matching all eleven elements of the site. These can be obtained by Scavenging with your gathering turns or getting lucky in the Coliseum. When hatched, the hatchling will be one of the four plentiful breeds with an element matching the egg it hatched from, as well as three random colors and a random natural eye type. [*]Bogsneak eggs: These eggs can be brewed in Baldwin’s Bubbling Brew if you are a high enough level. These eggs will hatch into a Bogsneak hatchling with a random element. [*]Nocturne eggs: These eggs can be randomly obtained from [gamedb item=7690] during the Night of the Nocturne event. These eggs will hatch into a Nocturne hatchling with a random element. [/list] [b]What are Familiars?[/b] Familiars are critters you can equip to your dragons. Every day, you may bond with a familiar and earn a treasure bonus, occasionally getting a chest bonus as well. Only one dragon in your lair can equip a specific familiar at a time. [b]How do I get familiars?[/b] You can primarily get familiars from the Marketplace or Auction House and Coliseum. Other site features can also give you familiars. [b]How long does it take to awaken a familiar?[/b] It takes a total of 89 days to awaken a familiar. For specifics on the rewards you get for bonding, check out [url=https://www1.flightrising.com/forums/gde/987700]this thread[/url]. [b]Is there a reason to keep familiars after you awaken them?[/b] Holding onto awakened familiars will give them a starry background in your Bestiary. Otherwise, there is no real reason to hold onto them. [b]What is the Vault?[/b] The Vault is essentially a personal safe. You can store treasure, gems, and items for safekeeping. Items & Currencies

What is Treasure?
Treasure is the main currency on the site. It is primarily used in transactions. You can acquire treasure by bonding with familiars, playing games in the Fairgrounds, exalting dragons, and selling items.

What are Gems?
Gems are the premium currency on the site. The easiest way to acquire gems is by purchasing them from the site, selling dragons and items, and opening specific chests.

What are Unhatched Eggs, and where can I get them?
Unhatched Eggs are essentially orphaned eggs. There are 13 types of eggs, and you can obtain them the following ways:
  • Elemental eggs: There are eggs matching all eleven elements of the site. These can be obtained by Scavenging with your gathering turns or getting lucky in the Coliseum. When hatched, the hatchling will be one of the four plentiful breeds with an element matching the egg it hatched from, as well as three random colors and a random natural eye type.
  • Bogsneak eggs: These eggs can be brewed in Baldwin’s Bubbling Brew if you are a high enough level. These eggs will hatch into a Bogsneak hatchling with a random element.
  • Nocturne eggs: These eggs can be randomly obtained from Strange Chest during the Night of the Nocturne event. These eggs will hatch into a Nocturne hatchling with a random element.

What are Familiars?
Familiars are critters you can equip to your dragons. Every day, you may bond with a familiar and earn a treasure bonus, occasionally getting a chest bonus as well. Only one dragon in your lair can equip a specific familiar at a time.

How do I get familiars?
You can primarily get familiars from the Marketplace or Auction House and Coliseum. Other site features can also give you familiars.

How long does it take to awaken a familiar?
It takes a total of 89 days to awaken a familiar. For specifics on the rewards you get for bonding, check out this thread.

Is there a reason to keep familiars after you awaken them?
Holding onto awakened familiars will give them a starry background in your Bestiary. Otherwise, there is no real reason to hold onto them.

What is the Vault?
The Vault is essentially a personal safe. You can store treasure, gems, and items for safekeeping. Items and currency in the vault cannot be used.

How do I get Apparel?
Apparel is primarily obtained through the Marketplace, however apparel sets and pieces can also be obtained from other site features.

If I unlock an apparel slot, is it only for that dragon?
Nope! If you unlock a slot, that slot is open for all of your dragons; it is not on a dragon-by-dragon basis.

How do I equip a scene to my dragon?
Hit the Customize button and select Scene, or click the word “Scene” on your dragon’s profile.

Are scenes infinite use?
Yes! Like apparel, you can freely equip and unequip scenes.

I can’t find an item in my hoard!
The hoard automatically sorts items by their ID number, not in the order you obtain them. If you’re not sure when an item was released, you’ll have to dig around your hoard a bit to find it! Alternatively, you can click the spyglass next to the Food tab of your hoard to open up the Hoard Search feature and search for items that way.

Where did my hoard search go?
When you log out of your account, your hoard search will collapse itself. Click the spyglass next to the Food tab to bring it back!

How come some items can’t be sold in the hoard?
Items obtained through special measures such as through Baldwin or Swipp cannot be sold. Items that can be opened such as chests also cannot be sold from the hoard. These items can also not be melted down at Baldwin.

When does the Marketplace restock?
Every section in the Treasure Marketplace has a chance of restocking every five minutes. Stocks clear at the start of every even hour. The Gem Marketplace always has items in stock and does not refresh on the hour.

What materials does Baldwin’s transmuting give?
Transmuting gives the following materials respectively:
  • Food -> Goo
  • Materials -> Ooze
  • Apparel -> Slime
  • Familiars -> Muck
  • Other -> Sludge

What are Clanbound items?
Clanbound items are locked to your clan, and as such they cannot be sold or traded to other players. The only way to get rid of them is to use them.

I have a question about an item that is not answered here.
Check out the items section of the Game Database in order to see information about items such as where they can be obtained from, what gene colors they are most associated with, and what they can be used for.

[center][size=4][b][emoji=rainbow star 1 size=1] Account & Forums [emoji=rainbow star 1 size=1][/b][/size][/center] [b]What are Achievements?[/b] Achievements are optional objectives you can complete in order to earn treasure, gems, achievement points, and achievement tokens. You will earn most of these just by playing the game normally, however some may pose a challenge or reward you if you just get unlucky. [b]What are Pursuits?[/b] Pursuits are cycling challenges that award treasure and pursuit points, with one set also awarding gems. Pursuits are broken into Daily, Weekly, and Monthly categories, which is when they cycle out for new ones. These scale on difficulty, so Monthly ones are harder than Daily ones, for example. [b]What are Achievement Points?[/b] Achievement Points are a way for you to track your achievement 'score.' They don't serve a function other than showing you how many achievements you've completed on the site. [b]What are Pursuit Points?[/b] Pursuit Points feed into a Rewards Meter that award you Achievement Tokens when the meter has filled enough. [b]What are Achievement Tokens?[/b] Achievement Tokens are a special currency that can be used in the [url=https://www1.flightrising.com/exchange/acclaimed-achievements-association]Acclaimed Achievements Association[/url] for exclusive items. [b]Can I change my username?[/b] You can change your username by going to [url=https://flightrising.com/main.php?p=settings]Account Settings[/url]. Each member has one free username change. If you wish to change your username again after using your free change, you will need to pay 500 gems. [b]Can I change my flight?[/b] Yes. You may change your flight for free if it is your first time switching flights. After switching flights, you will be unable to switch again until six months have passed. Every switch after that will cost 1,500 gems. You can change your flight from account settings. [b]What does “Eggs discarded” in settings mean?[/b] When the site first opened up, eggs on nests would die if a day was missed incubating them. This feature has since been removed, however as accounts have experienced egg rot, the statistic remains. [b]What are Vistas?[/b] Vistas are cosmetic items that apply a design to your forum posts and dragon biographies. For a detailed guide on all the Vistas on the site, check out [url=https://www1.flightrising.com/forums/gde/1458402/1]this guide[/url]. [b]How do I apply Vistas?[/b] Vistas can be found in the Specialty tab of your hoard. You can apply a Vista to your account by clicking on it in your hoard. Once you’ve done that, you can freely apply it to your posts in account settings or your dragon biographies through Customize. [b]What are the stars on forum posts?[/b] The stars change based on how many posts a user has made. [list] [*]1 post - 1 star [*]50 posts - 2 stars [*]100 posts - 3 stars [*]200 posts - 4 stars [*]500 posts - 5 stars [*]1000 posts - Rainbow star [/list] [b]How do I make a forum signature?[/b] You can add a signature to your forum posts by going to Account Settings. [b]How do I format forum posts and signatures?[/b] You can use BBCode in order to format text. For a list of code that Flight Rising supports, check out [url=https://www1.flightrising.com/forums/gde/2235393]this guide[/url]. [b]What is the maximum dimension for signatures?[/b] Signatures are 525px in width and 100px in height. If you use columns, you get 98px in height, so keep that in mind if you’re making a signature with fancy BBCode. [b]How do I post images?[/b] Images can be posted using the following BBCode: [code][img]DIRECT IMAGE URL HERE[/img][/code] The "direct image URL" refers to the link that leads specifically to the image you want to use. These links end with a file extension such as .png, .jpg, or .gif. If the link you try to use does not end in an appropriate file extension, it won't work. The image you want to post needs to be uploaded to the Internet — you cannot share an image directly from your computer. You can use an image hosting site such as Imgur in order to upload your images. To get the direct image URL, right click the image and select "Copy Image Address" (wording may vary depending on browser). Then use the code above to post your image. [b]How do I ping someone?[/b] Simply put an @ in front of their username. They'll get a notification when you post! [b]If I edit a post with a ping, does it reping that person?[/b] Nope! Editing a post with existing pings will not send the user another notification, but if you add a new ping, it will notify that new user. What are Achievements?
Achievements are optional objectives you can complete in order to earn treasure, gems, achievement points, and achievement tokens. You will earn most of these just by playing the game normally, however some may pose a challenge or reward you if you just get unlucky.

What are Pursuits?
Pursuits are cycling challenges that award treasure and pursuit points, with one set also awarding gems. Pursuits are broken into Daily, Weekly, and Monthly categories, which is when they cycle out for new ones. These scale on difficulty, so Monthly ones are harder than Daily ones, for example.

What are Achievement Points?
Achievement Points are a way for you to track your achievement 'score.' They don't serve a function other than showing you how many achievements you've completed on the site.

What are Pursuit Points?
Pursuit Points feed into a Rewards Meter that award you Achievement Tokens when the meter has filled enough.

What are Achievement Tokens?
Achievement Tokens are a special currency that can be used in the Acclaimed Achievements Association for exclusive items.

Can I change my username?
You can change your username by going to Account Settings. Each member has one free username change. If you wish to change your username again after using your free change, you will need to pay 500 gems.

Can I change my flight?
Yes. You may change your flight for free if it is your first time switching flights. After switching flights, you will be unable to switch again until six months have passed. Every switch after that will cost 1,500 gems. You can change your flight from account settings.

What does “Eggs discarded” in settings mean?
When the site first opened up, eggs on nests would die if a day was missed incubating them. This feature has since been removed, however as accounts have experienced egg rot, the statistic remains.

What are Vistas?
Vistas are cosmetic items that apply a design to your forum posts and dragon biographies. For a detailed guide on all the Vistas on the site, check out this guide.

How do I apply Vistas?
Vistas can be found in the Specialty tab of your hoard. You can apply a Vista to your account by clicking on it in your hoard. Once you’ve done that, you can freely apply it to your posts in account settings or your dragon biographies through Customize.

What are the stars on forum posts?
The stars change based on how many posts a user has made.
  • 1 post - 1 star
  • 50 posts - 2 stars
  • 100 posts - 3 stars
  • 200 posts - 4 stars
  • 500 posts - 5 stars
  • 1000 posts - Rainbow star

How do I make a forum signature?
You can add a signature to your forum posts by going to Account Settings.

How do I format forum posts and signatures?
You can use BBCode in order to format text. For a list of code that Flight Rising supports, check out this guide.

What is the maximum dimension for signatures?
Signatures are 525px in width and 100px in height. If you use columns, you get 98px in height, so keep that in mind if you’re making a signature with fancy BBCode.

How do I post images?
Images can be posted using the following BBCode:
Code:
[img]DIRECT IMAGE URL HERE[/img]
The "direct image URL" refers to the link that leads specifically to the image you want to use.

Code:
[img]https://flightrising.com/images/layout/logo.png[/img]
logo.png

How do I share an image of my dragon?
Click on the share button on your dragon's profile:
button_shareoutfit.png

Copy what is in the "Widget" field.

How do I make my dragon's image smaller?
Get your dragon's image URL.
Code:
[img]https://www1.flightrising.com/rendern/350/1/6_350.png[/img]

Replace the "/350/" with "/avatars/" and remove the "_350" before the .png.
Code:
[img]https://www1.flightrising.com/rendern/avatars/1/6.png[/img]
6.png

Note: this method only works with existing dragons on the site. You will need to manually resize any morphologies.

How do I put text and images next to each other?
You can do this by using the "columns" and "nextcol" BBCode tags. Here is a sample layout that is commonly used for sales posts:
Code:
[columns][url=https://www1.flightrising.com/dragon/12][img]https://www1.flightrising.com/rendern/350/1/12_350.png[/img][/url] [nextcol][center][b]Firage[/b] Red Tiger Crimson Seraph Fire Glimmer[/center][/columns]
12_350.png
Firage

Red Tiger
Crimson Seraph
Fire Glimmer

You can learn more about columns with this guide.

How do I ping someone?
Simply put an @ in front of their username. They'll get a notification when you post!

If I edit a post with a ping, does it reping that person?
Nope! Editing a post with existing pings will not send the user another notification, but if you add a new ping, it will notify that new user. If you remove a ping from your post, save the post, and then add it back in, the user will be notified.

Can I start over with a new account?
No. As per the Terms of Use you agreed to when you signed up, you agree to make only a maximum of one account.
Terms of Use wrote:
4. You agree to register a maximum of one account per individual user.

How do I “restart” on my account?
There isn’t a true way to restart on Flight Rising due to the one account rule. The best way to get a fresh start on the game is by doing the following:
  • If you haven’t used your free username and flight changes, use those.
  • Exalt or sell all of your dragons.
  • Sell all of the items in your hoard.
  • Remove every member from your friends list.
  • Delete all of your forum posts if you are able to.

How do I delete my account?
There is no way for a user to delete their own account. If you wish to have your account deleted, you will have to contact the developers through Contact Us.

However, keep in mind that voluntary/requested account closures are not performed, unless you are a citizen of the EU and are making a GDPR request.
