I've got an oc who I have had for... Gosh it has been a really long time, I want to say 7 or 8 years at this point? I'm still working on him and defining who I want him to be and his flaws but his general story line,

Anyway his name is Marro, he was raised in a family who was sort of mafia adjacent in my universe, their family was in the business of mercenaries so his father more or less ran the business where him and his four siblings were taught the tricks of the trade on a very hands on way. This part of the story I have kept despite being sort of too edgy for my taste nowadays but I kept it because it makes his development through his story impactful. He is very good at his role in the family business but in an effort to prove himself goes on a mission to collect a bounty and ends up more or less stranded.

He could technically get home but it would take a lot of time and his family would inevitably be dissapointed and angry with his failure so he stays and meets the person who he was supposed to collect a bounty on (the oc is named Anne, her bounty was to be returned to her father but it was placed when she was very young and Marro started his journey years after it was placed so while it was placed when she was a baby at this point she is a young adult around 18) and they become close, he goes from wanting to prove himself and feeling ashamed of his failure to growing and becoming an individual outside of the role that has been pushed on him.

He actually decides he wants to become a baker, and eventually ends up opening his own bakery, he reconciles with his siblings and somewhat with his mother eventually. I enjoy contemplating his character because he is a very closed off, angry individual and while with time and encouragement and support he grows to be more okay with who he is, and does get his happy ending, he still struggles. He can be very deeply flawed at times, being judgemental, insecure, closed off, and defensive. But he is also thoughtful, compassionate, creative. He likes soft colors, he ends up having children and being a fantastic father, he loves his wife. He struggles a lot to get to the point where he can pursue his interests, his actions hurt others and he is hurt by the world, but he puts the effort in to be better.

He ended up getting a lot his more "complex" character traits as I got older, and I love him as a character as I think he's grown with me and will continue to grow with me.

Some other fun facts,
he has fire magic and because his wife loves how beautiful flowers and nature is but does not like having cut flowers because they die he uses his powers to make her very intricate metal and glass flowers that by the time they are old their home is covered in detailed and gorgeous displays.

He also uses his fire magic in his bakery, he is very very particular with how he runs his bakery

he has heterochromia in his left eye, both his eyes are brown but his left eye is half yellow.

OC thread! Time to ramble :)

- Mark and Julia: Dead inside office worker and a journalist with too much curiosity get hired/kidnapped by a company that turns out to be partially run by aliens. They’re now part of an alien war, yippee. Mark is more pessimistic and rule-following, while Julia is intensely optimistic (outwardly, even if she doesn’t believe it) and much more willing to break rules. This gets them in trouble a bit, but it also results in them learning the company is kinda evil so… probably worth it for that information.

- Dez: So you know the trope of “scientist turns themself into a monster”? That but sort of reverse. Alien engineer messes up, ends up with human emotions, and panics about it. Eventually becomes friends with the two above and stops panicking because he decides that actually this friendship thing humans have is pretty nice

- Wesley: Guy from medieval times touches a weird rock and now has an half of an alien consciousness living in his brain. Good news is now he’s immortal and, once they’ve become friends over the long time they’re stuck together, essentially has free therapy. Bad news is the other half of it is with a person he really hates for trying to kill him, who also can’t die now. In the present day, he’s in charge of a group that the other three above eventually join to fight the company they once worked for (which is lead by the Bad Guy of the story, that person with the other half of the alien thing)

- Era: Wesley’s half of the alien consciousness thing. Was originally part of an extremely powerful hive mind before being split in half to weaken them and then removed by other aliens (Dez’s species). Somehow ends up on earth in a crystal like container that Wesley is the first one to touch. They need his life force to survive, so they use their remaining power to keep him from dying. Luckily their goals are pretty similar, Era wants their other half back and Wesley wants the person with that other half dead

all of them gay / nonbiney and have white hair
