Just having a bad day because of school affairs, so scrolling through the forums and that meat pineapple thread. Actually I think some of the food are acceptable, or even delicious? [s]Maybe because people in my country eat everything idk[/s] Someone mentioned pork jelly but I think they are actually great lol And animal blood, they are actually one of my favorite foods lol, great when in a spicy hotpot. 22, still a student, stupid young idiot

I hate talking irl so what I wrote might not make sense sorry
That's the great thing about cooking and food - if done right, even things you would normally never touch can taste incredible.

One combination I've found works but others have told me is absolutely disgusting is turkey and strawberry jam. Both need to be good quality, but honestly the sweetness of the jam works really well with the turkey.

Also, ostrich. Holy smoke, ostrich is GOOD. There used to be a continental market that came to my town every year, and one year there was a stall with various "exotic" meats, including ostrich burgers. We were having a BBQ for my grandmother's birthday a few days later, so we got some to try and they were amazing! Yet whenever I mentioned it to anyone they immediately grimace.

I've also had kangaroo. Odd, almost spiced flavour but not unpleasant by any means. That one really disgusts people xD The British are not the most adventurous with food...

I looooove blood foods and anything to do with animal jelly. It's like eating a nourishing hug.

One of the better things I ate that really surprised me was some kind of cow stomach stew with fermented stomach content. The latter tasted kind of like kimchi. I havent dared to replicate it as I haven't found a recipe but if anyone nows what dish I'm talking about I'd love to know what it's called.

Blodpalt or "veripalttu" as we call it in finnish. It's made out of blood, rye flour and potatoes as far as I know. Here's a picture of it. Often served with lingonberries or lingonberry jam, it's a very traditional dish here. A lot of my friends either haven't tried it or despise it, but I absolutely adore blodpalt. It just brings me back to my childhood (I used to live in the north, so this was far more popular there than it is in the capital, where I live now) My favorite use of blodpalt is in this thing called "rössypottu". The recipe is quite simple: Add blodpalt, pork, potatoes, some salt and make it into a stew. This dish just gives me overwhelming nostalgia and I find it very delicious. [emoji=coatl tongue size=1]

I’m a big fan of insect food. It’s hard to get anything too bug-shaped here(usually the bugs are ground up) but I’ll eat pretty much anything with insects in it. To this day the best tacos I’ve ever eaten had spicy crickets in them.

All my friends think this is gross by default, just cause it’s insects. Really guys? Have you seen a meat animal lately? Now that’s what I call gross.

Blodpalt looks like someone tried to bake a cake but left it in the oven too long

I love Natto beans. It is kinda notorious for smelling awful and having a slimy texture, but it doesn’t taste bad at all imo. The beans by themselves are bitter, but when mixed with a touch of fish sauce and spicy mustard, it takes on a more complex flavor. Tastes great alone, or mixed up with fresh rice. I love it most with sliced Yamaimo (a type of crisp root that becomes slimy when grated or smashed), but I haven’t found any in a while. However, I’m not joking when I say it smells bad. It is fermented, after all. When I used to keep hamsters, I’d have to make sure I washed up thoroughly with lots of soap before even getting near them. They’d run away in fear at the smell. @WarMutt I laughed at this. Here's another traditional finnish food that I "like". It's called mämmi and it's made out of water, rye flour and malted rye .... and uh, it looks like this.
