i have adhd and my main media hyperfixations are:
- super mario galaxy
- pikmin (specifically pikmin 2)
- soma (the video game)
- stardew valley
- off (the video game)
- music as a whole, but especially several obscure bands that i can never stop talking about. music is my main way of communicating with people and i hope to understand music theory and make my own songs someday!
i usually switch between these! it's hard for me to open up to new things so i usually switch between them whenever i feel the need to, usually every couple weeks or so!
my non-media hyperfixations are:
- insects
- deep-sea organisms
- cryptozoology
- stuffed animals
- mythology/folklore
also i think the minoan and mycenaean cultures are really interesting but i dont think id count it as a hyperfixation!

I have the language app Duolingo on my phone. I've been using it to better my French and keep up with my Spanish (which I'm fluent in). They have a ton of languages you can do, and there's a short introductory Latin course. I did it and loved it! Like @
PrehistoryMaker said, I'm a scientist, so it's super helpful there. And I love word origins in general.
But the single-most coolest thing I learned from the Latin course is that "albicans" means "white." That blew me away, because the infectious fungus
Candida albicans causes thrush, or white patches in the throat! So cool! The other cool word I learned was "psittaci" means "parrot." And psittacosis is an infectious disease you can get from being around birds.

Hypercoaster Yes! Once you get a hang on Latin vocab, the names of certain organisms makes so much more sense! Like how
Quercus rubra just literally means red oak. X) It makes a lot of things more obvious. I love Latin.

hey! i'm roch and i've had the same SI for like ten years.
my forever interest is a manga called Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro, and it's so good. its so good. it tricks you into thinking it's both a) a detective story and b) a supernatural sort of deal, since there's one (1) demon, but it actually goes into sci-fi pretty quick. i can't say much about the actual story without spoiling things besides the fact that it goes pretty serious pretty fast, and deals with grief, loss, hope, and the idea that everyone has something important about them. it's a rare example of a rough read done right - even when things seem at their bleakest, you never feel like it's hopeless. plus, there are breaks between the really nasty bits, and even in those moments, it has a way of making you laugh. the villains (WITH ONE NOTABLE EXCEPTION) stand out so sharply because they really do feel human - desperate people, trying to find things in exactly the wrong way.
hal's the best, btw. if you like AI villains, pondering some egregiously bad ethics and totally boneheaded choices made by his creator, and also Nasty Surprises, he's your computer.
it's not all too long at 202 chapters, but again, bc of Said Content, i'd kinda advise yall tread lightly if you do decide to pick it up. here's some tws off the top of my head: suicide/suicidal ideation, drugs, death, terrorism, body horror. also neuro's a huge jerk for like, the first quarter. i'm so sorry about him. he's a big, awful demon bird who doesn't know any manners.

I've got a new SI: the Half Life franchise. I don't know a lot about it, but it makes me extremely happy and I could watch videos about it for hours (and I have). When something makes me so excited I feel like throwing up, I know it's a new SI. :,-)
