Fiona's Fantastic Familiars is an activity found in the Trading Post. This guide is about the randomized selection of Familiars that is chosen each day in the Flattery section.

The list of eight Familiars is refreshed daily at rollover. The selection available is unique to each user; unlike e.g. Swipp, whose random selection is consistent site-wide for all players. The selection is random, but some Familiars will be more likely to appear based on criteria listed below.

Fine-print details and sources are in the second post. Here is a summary:

1. There are about 30 Familiars out of the 1000-or-so which are extraordinarily expensive. Fiona may be the only option for many players to complete their Bestiary. However, attempting to use Fiona as your exclusive means of bonding and awakening Familiars is essentially impossible, as it would take over 20 years.

2. Fiona is more likely to select Familiars you have not yet awakened. She is also more likely to select Familiars that you do not own. A familiar which is owned, but unawakened, is about 4 times as likely to appear. A familiar which is neither owned nor awakened is about 12 times as likely to appear.

3. You can increase the likelihood of seeing any individual unawakened Familiar by awakening as many others as you can. You cannot force a specific one to appear, but you can raise the chances greatly by having your dragons bond with their Familiars often.

4. Awakened familiars can and do appear in Fiona's daily selection. The number which appear, on average, is primarily determined by how many awakened Familiars are in your Bestiary. Practically speaking, it is capped at 6-7, as new Familiars are released often.

This list does not include Familiars unlocked through Feats.

Market prices can always change, Familiars can be re-released or raffled off, etc., so this is not a perfect or permanent list.

2a: I do not know whether Fiona prioritizes undiscovered Familiars. I also do not know if she differentiates for Familiars that are currently bonded to one of your dragons.

2b: While Fiona does have several sub-categories in her preferences, it does not seem that any slots are specifically reserved for any specific category.
Anecdotal reports from players indicate that it is possible to have anywhere from 1 to 8 unawakened Familiars chosen.
However, for the casual player, seeing more than 2 or 3 awakened familiars on a given day is rare. Also, it is exceedingly difficult and rare to see fewer than two unawakened Familiars. Due to constant new releases, it may in fact be mathematically impossible.

I'm adding some rephrasings/keywords of the question here, only because I had significant diffuculty finding relevant threads through Search.

How are familiars selected at fiona? Are awakened familiars possible to see? Is the determination of Fiona random?

I don't think this applies to me because I just like to collect the things. I don't care if they're awakened or now, but I can see why the awakened status may be the only way for some people to be able to "collect" these. So I think this is a good idea to have some of these show up more often. I actually thought that the familiars available for bonding from fiona were the same for everyone.

I do have a question though, I have one of the golden fangars, where did these come from? Checked and the game database only says it's not available. I'm guessing I may have bought it or something and don't remember.

Never mind, it's from downtime. I thought I got rid of all my expensive ones though like I did with the sprites.
