@Savato
Sorry, of course, I forgot about Contuse/elemental attacks using MND instead of DEF [emoji=tundra tongue size=2]
Thanks, I'll keep an eye on this guide. My Fire/Water pair is still level 10 so it will take a while for me!
I have done some napkin math to recommend elements for single-mage teams with more certainty! If you come across any problems with the elements I suggested or any other aspect of the guide please feel free to tell me! I don't wish to spread misinformation.

ty for this guide, used it on my lvl25 dragons! seems to work good, tested in forbidden portal.

Just wanna say a big thank-you to OP for these builds and recommendations! I'm playing casually again after a hiatus, and it looks like coli venues got a bunch of updates. I appreciate being able to restat some lv 25's in my lair so I can go farming in the Workshop/Portal (which is totally new to me!)
I don't know if it matters, but I'm actually running 125 INT on my mage rather than 122 - I'm not sure if it makes a big difference, but while shopping around for Portal builds, I saw a few others recommend a 125 INT mage and decided to do that for a little extra oomph.

This Wind mage and my Ice warrior with Eliminate/Shred/Sap/Clobber make a great team after a short period of testing! (I've literally only used Scratch/Elim on my warrior, but I like having Sap just in case.) I haven't run into any bosses yet, so maybe I'll update later and see how that goes.

Just put together this team for the forbidden portal with a fire warrior and a water mage, and it's been working super well for me so far!
Prior to this I'd just brought three glass canons with the standard Duke's build and found myself really struggling.
Now I'm making progress and can train a dragon as well!
Thank you for the guide! ^_^

Briefly tested this out in portal today with a fire warrior + wind mage (I know that's not the recommended element for portal but I didn't want to re-stat my shadow mage or train a new one). Sacrificed a little vitality for 105 strength on the warrior.
It works very nicely! Not super fast, but feels quite sturdy compared to what I've tried before. The only issue I've noticed is that contuse + rallied elim doesn't always work on the bilworpers? But does sometimes? And I'm not sure why? Maybe I can figure it out, otherwise I wonder if a tinsy bit more intelligence on the mage would do the trick.
After a little more time in the portal I don't think the extra intelligence is needed, it's just a case of me using my brain and remembering to use an elemental attack (rather than contuse) on bilworpers and pupowls (and monkey wrench in workshop... that's what they're called right? Don't quote me on that).
Have absolutely no issues with the bosses in portal, but I've yet to test against bosses in the workshop.

@friendlycoffee Hey, thanks for your input on the contuse + elim stuff. I must have overlooked it while testing, somehow, so I'll edit it in. I'm glad the build worked nicely otherwise!

Love this build - been merrily training fodder in both venues with a Fire/Earth team.
May I recommend another optional battlestone?
[item=Reflect]
Reflect nullifies damage from mage attacks, which allows you to completely shut down the FP bosses. As a bonus, it reflects attacks back, which can make the Wind FP boss go berserk, and it has very low attack so you get a few free turns to attack it. I've been using it to farm bosses while fodder levelling in the Kelp Beds for years.
I actually have it on my warrior because of the two-dragon build - she has Reflect, Eliminate, Rally, and Sap, while my mage has Contuse, Aid, Rally, and Boulder Bolt.
I mostly just use it against the Wind boss to protect my Earth mage. I just refresh it when it runs out since his turn is before the warrior's, and have the warrior Scratch unless she can pull off an Eliminate and still have the 40 breath in reserve to renew the mage's Reflect.
I think if I had a three dragon team with one mage for each venue I'd have given it to the FP mage instead of Contuse, but I use both Contuse and Boulder Bolt situationally (Contuse mostly against GW bosses, Bolder Bolt against physical attackers in FP), so this compromise has been working for me so far.

Reflect

Places a barrier around the target. This barrier has a chance to reflect harmful OR beneficial projectiles and spells.

@SparkyLurkdragon Hey there, sorry for not getting back to you about this before, it's a great suggestion and I've added it to the Warrior. I'll probably add it to the Mage section too, but I'd have to reword "required" vs "optional" a bit and right now I'm too tired to do that. I'm glad the build worked for you overall!
