Efficient Familiar Bonding

Familiars can be a huge drag to click through, especially on slow connections - so many page refreshes, scrolling down, the whole nine yards. And what about all of those extra ones that you can't put on dragons?
But familiars give you free money! Chests, too! What a conundrum!

Good news for you: I am lazy, I love money, and I love to find workarounds.

Disclaimer:
  • In order to record gifs easily, I have to zoom waaaaay out. This can sometimes mess up the formatting of the website, and I apologize.
  • Warning for moving gifs, if that's a thing that bothers you!

Part One - Your Dragons' Familiars

There is a sneaky way to navigate quickly through your dragons introduced when the lair revamp went live! I'll keep a documentation of the old version at the end of this guide, for the sake of those that like it better.

i... forgot to record my cursor in the gifs...... i'll fix it soon :'3

Tips & Notes:
  • If you need to zoom out, you can use ctrl-/ctrl+, or ctrl & scroll wheel. To return your browser zoom to normal, press ctrl 0. (cmd for macs of course!)
  • This method assumes that all of your familiar-bonded dragons are in sequence with each other, with no gaps. If you have your familiars scattered around your lair, you may have better luck with the previous method.

==========================================================

Start:

Begin on a dragon's page - first or last are your best bet, or otherwise you'll enter your Den. I prefer my first one, but it doesn't really matter.

Resize your window so that you can see the heart button without scrolling. You may need to zoom in or out to achieve this!

Before clicking 'Okay', press the appropriate arrowkey to move to your next dragon. Right (>) if you began on your first dragon, left (<) if you began on your last dragon.

Sometimes the familiars don't get clicked! :(
This is just a result of the communication speed between your internet and the FR servers!

If you find that some familiars aren't registering their clicks, you may need to be a bit more patient between clicking the heart button and pressing the arrow key: I haven't done extensive research on timing yet, but try waiting for the familiar's picture to load.

If you want to make this easier, but still get chests, put your Awakened (maxed-out) familiars in your vault! Then you won't have to click through all of those, too.

Full Process, One Gif:
Watch this first, last, or both!

F9Fewii.gif
i dont know why it decided to make the background pink

==========================================================

Step-by-Step:

Open up the page of a dragon with no familiar. It can be any dragon, really, but it's easier if it doesn't have one.

tLCjoMm.png

Scroll-click on the "Change" button to open up the Change Familiar page in a new tab, then drag that tab out and into a new window.

Resize your windows so you can see both. I like to place them next to each other and even scroll around so that the two boxes are as close as possible.

o7UOWCe.png

Give the dragon the first familiar in the box. You'll want to refresh their page so you can actually do things with it.

Click the heart button, but don't press Okay yet.

z7ApMVK.png
just pretend ultraram is first

Give the dragon the next familiar in line. It can be a little tricky to keep track of which familiar is next, but it's not that big a deal if you goof.

aQJ8Y7p.png
zalis is definitely after ultraram. shh.

Now click Okay. The page will refresh, and your dragon will have the next familiar. Saved ourselves having to go click the reload button, nice!

Next! Go through your box, scroll when you need to, and bake that dough.

If you have a normal computer and normal wifi, maybe stick to just one lair page or you'll end up losing all that time we just tried to save :/ I can't stop you though!
Supplement - Scattered Familiars

The method here is far less practical with the addition of arrow-key functionality! I've kept it documented in the case that it may still be useful to folks, for example, if your dragons with familiars are scattered between dragons without.

For new users, here's a fun throwback to 2016, two lair updates ago lol

Tips & Notes:
  • Common browsers have this neat function that, when you scroll-click on a link, it will automatically open in a new tab. You can also use ctrl+click (cmd+Click on Macs). Try it!
  • Browser tabs are magic and you can grab them and drag them. Try grabbing a tab and dragging it off of the browser window: it should turn itself into a new window.

==========================================================

Start:

Begin on a lair page - I prefer the first one, but it doesn't really matter.

mBUMDuX.png

Go down the rows and scroll-click on each dragon.

5PWSzUd.gif

Once you get tabs of all the dragons, drag the lair tab out and into it's own window. You can minimize it or just slide it to the side, if you have the space.

ECz2xYB.gif

Click on the first dragon tab if it isn't already active (looking at you, chrome). It's a lot easier to get a rhythm if you start on the first one.

If you can't see the heart button without scrolling down, zoom out. See the second post for tips.

You now have two options, feel free to try both and see what works best for you:

Option 1: (keyboard + mouse) - this may be laggy in Chrome

Click the heart, tap ctrl+W. Click the heart, tap ctrl+W. This closes the tab, and you don't have to refresh the page either, yay efficiency!
AjzXUna.gif
say hi, sully

Warning with this one: you have to make sure that the page finishes registering your click before you tap ctrl+W. You want to make sure the familiar's picture pops up.

If your internet loads slowly, you can also use ctrl+tab to swap tabs without closing them, so that the click registers while you continue.

This will end up closing your dragons window once you finish the last familiar. Open up the other window with your lair tab, go to the next page, and repeat from the top!

Option 2: (just mouse)

Click the heart, then click to the next tab. Click the heart, click to the next tab. You don't have to click the okay button. This will save you a page refresh, and therefore time!

yLzi08O.gif
You won't have to scroll; that's just me trying to keep the gif small

Once you reach the last tab, close the window with all the dragons! We're done with it. Pull up your window with the lair page.

Click to the next lair page, and begin back to the first step. Look at that, that's an entire two pageloads per dragon (okay + [>]) that you didn't have to deal with! Nice!

==========================================================

Hey, I could do all of my dragons!
You might have the brilliant idea to open ALL of your dragons in tabs, all at once. I suggest that you don't.

As great as this idea seems, loading all of your dragon's pages all at once will not make your wifi connection very happy, and many computers will struggle with that many open tabs - so this makes it less efficient.

@CrimsonWerewolf

This is actually mega useful, lol. I have this thing about matching familiars on my dragons, but when they Awaken I still like to bond with new ones from my hoard to make up for the chests I'd be missing otherwise. This'll be so much quicker/easier <3
