Thanks for the suggestions guys! I actually have checked out a couple of them before. I had used the coli builds 2.0 guide as a resource, and through that I found the coliseum mage builds guide (and also, coincidentally, how I found this guide lol) so I recognised most of the names you mentioned.

I didn't end up following any of them though (well, aside from way back when I was first attempting to coli and was trying to use Duke's how to train your dragon) I think it's because the majority of them seem to be tailored towards specific venues? In my mind I'm so far away from reaching those venues I'm like 'are these even relevant to me right now?' plus I know so little about the venues and what I'm likely to need from each that I can't judge with any accuracy which venue I would rather farm vs where I would train fodder.

So basically I was just trying to use them generally as guides to what blend of stats would work best for the kind of play style I was considering, but it turns out that I don't even know enough to tell by looking at the stats why a build with five points more in this would be better for me than this alternative over here and if I can only judge by experimenting with each that is a lot of stat resets....and I ended up deciding that since I'm going to have to redo it at some point regardless I might as well experiment and see how my own ideas work out?

@Alize I also really like the tank/healer build and I'll definitely be doing one of those in the future, but I wanted to experiment with a traditional/pure tank and a separate healer first, and see how they would work on a team with a fighter or mage, before trying out any of the niftier hybrids like spellsword and such.....although now I think about it I'm not sure there is any way to pull off a dual STR/INT build that would be a worthwhile addition to a team.

@JadedEmperor

There are a lot of builds out there: the tried and true like the Mire Flyer and Ruins Raider that will help you train 2 fodder at once and/or level other dragons. (I'm trying to dash this off quickly, so running off memory) The quickest of which for leveling fodder is a Ruins Raider Anticitank, based upon time testing by Sylvandr. The fastest way to level 2 dragons to 25 is with a Mire Flyer based on calculations done by Maki.

There are two trainer teams to level 1 dragon at a time: KB levelers, the GW Workers build, Sedona build (gets the job done without an eliminate). I sometimes use my Ruins Raider and Mire Flyer as another team to train 1 dragon in the Mire or the Ghostlight Ruins - better chance to successfully battle a boss and keep going.

There are other different builds, like the Leviathan Leveler, which take you adjusting to the style of coliseum play that each build requires to run it.

I have experimented with my own mage with QCK of 96 and when Haste is applied she gets 2 or 3 turns every round of a battle to support one or two fighters. Any dragon that gets tinctured has 1556 points to allocate to your stat build. If you use the Stat Calculator that Sylvandr created. You can play around with possible builds and where to allocate stat points.

A lot of other people on FR have done a lot of research on this subject in the Coliseum to level dragons and farm loot in an optimal fashion. Everything I have gleaned from the plethora of data and my experiments is this: Each venue has an optimized way to approach it; which can be summed up this way - Hit as hard and fast as possible, the faster you get through battles and the more of them you get through per hour the more x.p. to level up and/or loot you acquire for your hoard (including food to feed the dragons). Another thing to consider is which of the styles in which venue fits comfortably or is naturally intuitive to you.

(Once you figure out which build you want for which venue to accomplish your goals) You can try out your builds to find a build that you like if none of the others suit you.

These are not the droids you are looking for... However, I may have a dragon you are looking for...(message me to inquire)

I updated the stats for the Mire trainer [Mire Flyer]: 119 STR | 64 QCK | 30 VIT.

64 QCK is enough for the Haste turn in the first round against all physical attackers except Scythe Kamaitachi and bosses.

Venomous Toridae: 47 QCK x 2 - 30 = 64 QCK. For the bosses you would need 70 QCK (50 QCK x 2 - 30), but you get extra turns in the next rounds anyway and 30 VIT (1350 health) instead of 16 VIT (1070 health) will allow you to survive longer.

@Alize @JadedEmperor
@quattronius I have an unusually question: If the plague boss in the kelp beds contaminates himself and gets the virus debuff due to reflect, will a reflected aid deal damage?

@Alize That is a good question... based upon the way things should work in the coliseum, then the answer should be yes. I may have to try it... lol - that would be funny to 'heal' the Wave Sweeper to its death.
Tested out today, 15 January @ 16:44 FR time... Dragon A - a mage I am leveling to 25 currently has INT 68. Dragon B and C KB farmers/levelers equipped with eliminate and reflect. After previous battles where the Wave Sweeper did not get the Virus debuff from contaminate reflecting back to it, it happened today and heal cast by Dragon A caused it damage. Haha! That was funny to see. (-: Turn order: -Wave Sweeper cast contaminate at Dragon B, it was reflected and the Virus debuff appeared on the Wave Sweeper. -A cast Aid on B (Reflect was active) and the Aid reflected to the Wave Sweeper for 424 'damage'. -A cast Aid on C (Reflect was active) and Aid reflected again to the Wave Sweeper for damage that ended the battle... Haha, this was really funny to watch the battle end this way. Note: as I did drag out the battle hoping to test Aid cast towards a dragon with reflect, I was letting a lot of turns go by to wait for the Wave Sweep to Contaminate/virus itself. At the end of the battle the Loot Drop was 0, nothing... My mage did get the victory points towards leveling up and it was hilarious to watch me Aid-ing the Wave Sweeper to its end. Just wanted to share this first hand experience...

@Maki, question for you, in your builds you show the top ability stone for the single leveler in the Kelp Beds being a Meditate, but the stat points listed calls for 133 STG, that can't be right can it? If it is, what's the point of having Meditate instead of Scratch?

@DamienXavier

If you have Meditate you need only 4 turns to build breath for Eliminate, even if you have exhaustion for 3 turns.

Scratch: Haste (5) + 5 x 6 Scratch (30) (6 turns)
Meditate: Meditate (30) + Haste (5) + Rally + Defend (4 turns)

You can also use Meditate for other builds (Crystal Pools, Ghostlight Ruins, Mire), but Scratch is faster if you level dragons above Level 5, since you can better deal with dodges.

@Maki Okay, I see now! I have a hard time visualizing these things, even when I've read them before, I appreciate you taking the time to explain it out to me.
