Why did you choose your dragons name? | Flight Rising Discussion

I named my custom prog Yolo because I joined the site on impulse because I was really bored one night so I felt it fit, and then for my random prog I just keymashed her name and swapped/replaced letters until I got the name Zalas

Everyone else in my lair, except for Nepenthe, she was just named after a random word that I liked, is named as a reference to something (Austra, Ludo, and Elo are all named after bands/singers and Allison/Donut were both named in reference to Red vs Blue)

I don't really have a running theme with my names. I usually just look at each individual and ponder what their appearance makes me think of. I've based them off of coloring, characters they reminded me of...and I kinda had a bird name thing for a bit. I don't really have a running theme with my names. I usually just look at each individual and ponder what their appearance makes me think of. I've based them off of coloring, characters they reminded me of...and I kinda had a bird name thing for a bit.
As for my newest addition:

It had to be Maleficent.

I collect white/fire gen 1s.....it's a problem XD

Mine are named after my old Dungeon & Dragons dark elf/drow characters - save for skyshatter, rest are from drow translator

So many pretty dragons and great names D: I have three themes going in my lair: 'His Story' (A story I wrote about my main OC), 'Bands', and 'Comics'. More properly spelled, it'd be Erno'Gri, but the name generator wouldn't let me put the ' ): Erno'Gri is a character from His Story. He was basically a rather hairy winged anthro-doglike guy with greyish-tinted white hair. I was very surprised to find my random female had the exact colors of a female character from His Story: [url=http://flightrising.com/main.php?dragon=22359] [img]http://flightrising.com/render/350/22359_350.png[/img] [/url] The character (and thus, the Dragon) is named Hexen Danz (which supposedly means 'Witches Dance' in old german, and is a name applied to crop circles). The character is actually a somewhat insane slightly anthromorphic Tianyulong (a type of small, feathery dinosaur, which explains the feathers I put all over her.) I also have Serini, which is my progenitors' firstborn. More properly spelled Ser'Ini, also a char from His Story (Same species as Erno'Gri, but the white hair has a light blue tint instead of grey). Aellie is named after another character from His Story, this time an anthromorphic vixen thief-in-training. I got her out of a scavenged egg. So many pretty dragons and great names D:

Not sure where I got Hasseo from, to be honest. Just seemed to fit him.

And Ilrae is an old RP character of mine who has always had an association with blue/purple.

Generally, I try to come up with a character concept for my dragons first, and then name them after some cool-sounding terminology related to what they're interested in. So Phrygian collects musical scores and is named after a musical mode (which also sounds a little similar to "frigid", befitting the progenitor of an Ice clan). Antiphona likes old, possibly religious music, so I named her after antiphony, which is a fairly old style of music. Hapax studies ancient languages, so I named him after hapax legomenon, which is the term for a word that is used only once in a text, body of work, or entire written history of a language. Chalcolith guards an ancient temple, so I named him after the Chalcolithic period (i.e. Copper Age). And Digney the mechanic is named after an obsolete unit of electrical resistance.

But Carver is Carver because she likes to carve things up. :3
