TOPIC | Why did you choose your dragons name?

I name most of all of my dragons after my OCs but a couple don't look like or remind me of them so I kinda just winged it (no pun intended). HE REMINDS ME OF A KIWI FRUIT. The name itself isn't a proper name, but if you turn it around it is Lar Gand, a comic book character with a costume of a similar coloration. Since I joined the Shadow Flight, I made my first dragon black and named him Erebus. In some Greek mythology, Erebus is the personification of darkness, sometimes considered a Titan or a being that came before the Greek Gods.

Since he's mostly reddish, I chose Roan because one of the translations for the name is "Little red one".

@CriminalxIntent: Applejack is best pony, but a Rarity is good too. And that girl looks like a Pluvia to me. Means 'rain' in latin.

~*~MY STORY~*~

My progen is Sfir (pronounced 'sphere', yes) and I got that off the top of my head. My original Tundra random progen was Hester after Lee Scoresby's daemon in His Dark Materials. The only fandom character name so far!

Hester and Sfir gave me two children, one I kept and named Izayu because I LOVE -u ending names, and one unnamed boy. The boy was bought in the AH, turned into a Wildclaw...and immediately exalted????? UNNAMED???????

/FLIPS ONE MILLION TABLES????????????????????????

That was when I figured I'd better name any hatchlings I sold, or Sfir's offspring list was set to become a dreary place indeed.

After I exalted Hester, I got Sfir's second wife in the AH and named her Katriya because she was a Plague girl and I thought Katriya sounded 'spiky' enough. Katriya and Sfir had four children, one of whom sold quickly, and was named Basilio by his adopter, and the three brothers I've yet to sell: Azir, Karos, and Selkem.

Izayu ended up getting a mate who came pre-named, Thykinum, which is from a generator.

Now Sfir has a third wife, Yessi, because I wanted a -si name and something that sounded perky.

TLDR I name all my dragons myself unless I don't. Also I'm paranoid about nameless exalting. NAME YOUR DRAGONS, PEOPLE.

I named some of my dragons after songs of my absolute favourite music band, Type O Negative.
Sadly, their lead singer died 2010,thats why I inserted a little picture in the information box of my dragons, in memory :) , and the songtext+ video link of the song I named them after.

One of my dragons is directly named after the band because his color reminds me of them :)

My other dragons just have random names, some are latin names of flowers/ animals or something.

Zahir is named after the story 'The Zahir' and is an object that inspires obsession that becomes ever greater until nothing else can even be thought of.

The ridgebacks are all Evangelion jokes because, well, look at them.

Most of the rest were bought with names.

Virulent was a plague egg and the name was in the item description. It's extra cute because she's so pastel and cuddly.

Mine are all named for disease, real and fictional.
Really wish they'd let us put spaces in dragon names.

I joined the site because it reminded me of the practice of breeding animals like corn snakes for color and pattern morphs. As such my naming theme reflects that and I name each dragon after a corn snake morph that I think matches it well enough. I guess it's a little odd, but fun and I get to learn about the different genetics when I'm name hunting.
