TOPIC | LGBTQ NPCs
I love how this game has canon transgender characters such as Fiona, but I am wondering if there's any characters who are canonically gay, lesbian, bisexual, etc? I could be wrong but I don't think any of the shopkeepers are confirmed to be in romantic relationships, the only canon shopkeeper relationships I can think of are either as siblings (Pinkerton and Crim) or parent and children (Swipp and his children) unless there are other relationships I am unaware of. Are there any NPCs who are dating?

I headcanon Susie as a lesbian since her color pallet is very similar to the lesbian pride flag, but that's just a headcanon, it's not confirmed or anything.

I would absolutely love it if there were NPCs/shopkeepers or even characters in site lore/short stories who were confirmed to be gay. I would also love it if there were canon asexual characters, as an asexual person myself, canon asexual representation isn't very common. I can't think of any canon asexual characters off of the top of my head, but I can think of several gay characters (which is great! I love LGBTQ rep, it's just a shame that there isn't much representation for asexual people.)

I absolutely love the representation Flight Rising has with its NPCs, while I am not trans myself I have many friends who are, some of which also play FR, and I know they really love being represented.

Insect dragon lover. Lover of insects in general. Also fond of insect eating dragons.

I like collecting familiars!
Uh, someone told me the skydancer is trans, so this is already a thing.

Having encyclopedia stories about the NPCs would be cool. I half expected to find lore for Tomo and her Fae friend.

Instead I've only found stories on dragons finding gaolers, but they don't seem to have any official art on the site. Which is weird.

I personally headcanon Susie as acearo, given that her dialogue during the event only mentions love towards friends! Not confirmed, but I think it's cute.
My name is Susie. During this treasured moment, love is in the air. Can you feel it: that warm, cozy sensation like you've just finished a mug of good hot chocolate? That's what I feel when I think of my friends!
But you're right, no main NPCs are in relationships (that we know of). The auraboa lore story does have Juniper (she/her) and Aspen (they/them) as partners, though? so that's something haha

We've never seen her because according to canon, she's always traveling and look for new trade deals, ect. We don't know what breed she is or if she's trans, which leaves a lot of room for speculation. What we do know is all of her and Swipp's children are adopted orphans, which could mean a few things; - Swipp's mate is transfem. - Swipp and/or his mate are infertile and cannot have children of their own. - Swipp's mate is just too busy to settle down to lay eggs/incubate a nest.

@SullivanMaurus

I was under the impression Swipp was a single dad, which seems way more compelling for a story. Since he's supposedly a traveling merchant, imagining he just accidentally adopted a bunch of kids across his adventures is amusing to me.
That's what I was thinking too, and that maybe he is asexual but still wanted to care for children. I love the "found family" trope, where people who aren't biologically related end up becoming so close they are just like family. In the story I'm writing there's a lot of instances of found family type relationships.

we have a few nonbinary npcs too-scribbles (tomo's scribe) is they/them, and so is merrigan from the unfathomable odyssey event. also aequorin implied marva is gender-nonconforming recently:
Labels cannot find Marva. Marva is Marva. [emoji=rainbow star 1 size=1]
marva uses feminine pronouns but her cardboard cutout in the grand exchange has features of a male imperial, so players have long speculated she was trans until aeq (sorta?) confirmed it.

There's also the fathom that lead the fathom introductory even, who uses multiple pronouns - they/she/he iirc. I can't remember their name at the moment, of course...
