@Aequorin I'm a little starstruck to be addressed personally ^^; Glad to hear it's pose-based. Full speed ahead, heh

I think people need to remember these are pixel dragons - you can assign whatever gender/sex you want to the pose! That's one of the reasons we have Silhouette Scrolls. The M/F differentiator is purely for breeding mechanic purposes, it doesn't have to reflect in the lore of the dragon at all [emoji=familiar heart size=1]

Not a fan of genes that are dimorphic based on sex, hits too close to home imo (I'm trans and have a lot of trans dragons, it's just uncomfortable). I love these genes and I can deal with it being a one-off thing, but I just feel like it limits customization imo.

omg i thought this was a me problem. kinda same-y feelings on this. especially because dragons are sapient and are sometimes trans too.
while i wouldn't mind any more genes like this releasing and i don't think anything negative whatsoever towards people who like the idea, i wouldn't personally want more genes like this.

This is my feelings on it as well, as a nonbinary person. I'm okay with how they handled harlequin/jester, because with it being on all moderns they were able to switch up which pose gets which pattern (some breeds, F pose gets the mask and M pose gets the eyeliner; other breeds, M pose gets the mask and F pose gets the eyeliner; abbers get both patterns), to show that it's not necessarily sexual dimorphism, just variance within the gene.
I'm hoping that if/when this gene gets ported to other breeds, they'll do the same thing they did with harle/jest and switch it up per breed. That way I can at least pretend it's not a binary-based sexual dimorphism. (I'm not counting the baby pose as the "genderless" colouration myself bc I personally would find it infantilizing having to use the juvenile colours for an adult dragon ^^; )

i like this unique gene dimorphism! i discovered this while scrying a dragon and then changing its pose only to see it looks completely different, lol
as for the sexual dimorphism thing, im fairly convinced that if rabicano/roan got ported to other breeds, it would NOT be a sex-linked thing at all. it is for sure dimorphic, much like harle/jest AND display/parade, but the patterns on harle/jest are not determined based on sex. you can notice that which of the poses gets the mask vs eyeliner differs for each breed, which is a great detail! i find it to be a decent compromise, but i’m only speaking for myself on this matter. i would expect the same to occur with the other currently ancient-only dimorphic gene pairs.

I think this is a super cool way to add in dimorphism! More color options if you just change the pose :D And since it's only a gene its completely optional. I'm currently having a lot of fun in the scrying workshop.

It's neat in theory but my brain is already breaking trying to figure out how to make the accent colors function in practice... I wish all poses had both colors, just like, the location of the colors were flipped or something.
...I know not scrying with them is an option, I just... I really do like the patterns and colors, that's all. This is 100% going to make a mess for me at some point in the future when (not if) I forget they're weird.
Btw, the other dimorphic genes are Display/Parade on Dusthides, iirc. I don't remember Luxies having any but like... my memory isn't fantastic so maybe I'm missing/forgetting something.

wow cool I didn't even notice this! I love the uniqueness of it
