im afraid I’m unfamiliar with those characters (im just weirdo tho, ik there are a bunch of people with arcane fandragons who can give you more specific advice!), but for generalized fandragon tips, my advice is to try to find something about the character that you want to transfer to dragon form. it can be anything from a specific coloring/marking, an outfit piece, all the way to their personality, but whatever is most important to You in making a representation of the fandragon.
in terms of coloring or marking, it can help inform your decision on what genes to go for. like “oh this character uses magic, I think they should have Runes as a tert” “theyre in a cyberpunk, so metallic or wasp would be a good primary”, things like that. sometimes the apparel is this starting point, like my most recently worked on (but not completed…butterfly gene expensive) fandragon is
henchman twenty-one from the venture bros, and the big red and yellow goggles are SO iconic that I couldnt not have em. so I started the scrying process by trying to figure out what poses + breeds could wear goggles like that if I played with the layering, and only a few poses actually came out with the layering looking right—my favorite was obelisk male for a few reasons (I like the bulk, and also the manestyle felt right) but BASICALLY, I was led to this conclusion just bc I wanted to make the goggles right
in terms of personality, this is subjective but sometimes the expressions or Vibes of certain poses just feel like a character, you know? that or the way the breed is described in the encyclopedia matches the character. ive done both of these at different times and for different reasons: some characters ive made pearlcatchers bc pc lore has them as like, the petit-bourgeoisie so I consider them Bougie Acting Dragons, and some characters ive made pcs bc I felt like the expression from whatever pose was calm and measured and thus suited the character really well.
having any kind of “starting point” like this makes it much easier for me to start on a fandragon, bc then I have like one thing “locked down”. like, if okay this one character NEEDS to be an aether, then I dont have to worry about apparel and I can focus on trying to represent that in genes. or, flipside, this character NEEDS this FR apparel, I can skip all ancient breeds and linebreaking terts in my scry process. narrowing the pool helps me really work on the possibilities.
having a “they should be this breed” is proooobably the strongest starting point for me, since my brain is usually quick to say yea or nay on whether a character Feels right for a breed. if you cant pick one, you can always just cross those they Cant be off your list, and you’ve got a way easier time of it!
I will say that these tips lean towards the “scrying from scratch” approach, and while you absolutely may find the exact right colors + eye type you need, depending on how particular you are you may have to content yourself with either only getting a partial color/eye match, or spending a bit of time and coin on making the PERFECT fandragon to match your scry. neither is better or worse of course its just that depending on what you want to invest in you may have to settle for something thats not quiiite your scry, but plenty of people (aka me from time to time) just grab the closest dragon they can find to their General Vision on the AH (eg color ranges instead of specific colors, genes, etc) and pretty them up from there
