I know nothing of builds, but I do know the Scorched Forest is a pain to even the strongest dragons. My advice I can give is to fall back to the previous venue for a little bit and slowly earn experience that way. Can't hurt to rack up on the sweet loot back there, especially if you're into working on hibden tasks. It's a little more time-consuming, but way less frustrating.
