Welcome to the fourth annual [i]Ominous Species Christmas Countdown[/i]. This is a successor to the [url=https://www1.flightrising.com/forums/frd/2581922/1][i]Ominous Snapper Christmas Countdown[/i][/url] I did back in 2018. In 2019, I reimagined the countdown to be the Ominous Species Christmas Countdown and chose Skydancers as that year's representative. As determined by the vote last year, this year's species is[b] [i][color=red]Obelisk[/color][/i][/b]![/size] [center][color=blue]But what is the Ominous Species Christmas Countdown? It's simply a countdown to Christmas, but more ominous! Seriously, it's kinda in the title. But for real, what is it? Well, it's a countdown to Christmas focused on being silly and 'scary'. Nothing here is actually scary, of course, but it's still fun! Each day, I photoshop a dragon with a sign counting down to Christmas. Think of it as an advent calendar of sorts. This countdown is really only loosely based around Christmas, so you can probably enjoy it even if you don't celebrate the holiday. Users may submit their dragons or scries to be featured in the countdown, and I will hold a small raffle for participants at the event's conclusion. You can read more about that below, as well as find links to previous countdowns to get an idea of what this year's will be like. You can add yourself to the pinglist in the links section. It may occasionally be hard to read the sign or see the dragon. I create these on a computer with higher-than-average brightness, and with a special color profile. If your dragon is chosen (they are randomly selected) to be featured in the next day's image, you will win a small prize and a fake achievement during or after the countdown.[/color] [size=5][b]Rules And Other Info:[/b][/size] [color=red] - You may submit one dragon per day. If you submit multiple, I will choose whichever was listed first. You submit dragons on this thread. - Due to my busy schedule, I will most likely be posting the daily updates at inconsistent times. Therefore 'once per day' will be determined by FR's reset. If you have posted a dragon, you must wait for the next rollover before submitting another. You may submit a dragon even before I have posted that day's image. (Ex: rollover has occurred but I have not selected and posted a dragon from the previous day.) - To clarify the above; it's per day! If you submit a dragon today, there's a chance it'll be used in the next image. But once the server rolls over for the next day, you need to submit one again. This is to incentivize interaction as well as to give people a chance to show off multiple dragons. - There will be no additional prize for being chosen this year, and while you may continue to submit dragons after being chosen, you will have a reduced chance to win again (It will be roughly halved each time. Winning again will net you another small prize, though). I like giving incentives for people to submit their dragons, but I have not been able to come up with a system that is both fair and simple. This is a busy time of year for people, and I'd hate for someone to be too busy to submit a dragon and feel like they're missing out. - Do not submit dragons with Plague primal eyes. This countdown is supposed to be enjoyable for everyone, and some people do have issues with plague stuff. All other plague apparel or skins are okay. If you submit a dragon with plague primal eyes, I will not consider it. You can always scry your dragon and re-dress them in the dressing room to remove the eyes. - You can submit any dragon - 'ominous' or not! They don't have to match the events... theme. - I am looking into the possibility of getting assistance to run this each year. I am often busy and historically miss days or post them rather late. However, due to the nature of the countdown, I am not sure help would do much. Regardless, some have reached out to offer help with the countdown in the past.
