TOPIC | Apologies & Info Regarding the Tidelord
Hello everyone!

It’s time to talk about the giant elephant water deity in the room. Or the one that would be there if he wasn’t missing: The Tidelord.

We want to apologize to you for how long he’s been missing and for our general lack of acknowledgement on the topic. We know this hanging plot point has been a source of frustration and confusion for many of you and we should have acknowledged this sooner.

When we launched Bounty of the Elements our goal was to propel Flight Rising's story further into the current canon era. BotE was intended to set up story beats for future events and the eventual adventure/campaign feature. While this feature is not actively in development (yet), our team has laid a lot of story groundwork with BotE acting as a wide prologue.

Since BotE’s launch in 2018, we experienced several bumps in the road, ranging from our planned projects like recoding the site, making internal tools, and adding new day-to-day features. These initiatives have taken more time than originally thought due to unanticipated server migrations, the evolving needs of the site, and the coronavirus pandemic. On top of all of that, adventure/campaign's early design plans continue to evolve as we explore new features and learn new technology.

It may be quite a while before we hear from Tidelord again. What we can tell you today is that Water’s storyline is important to the narrative of the current canon era. The Tidelord’s disappearance is something that’s canonically supposed to last many in-universe years, and the process of unraveling the mystery of his disappearance is for players to uncover in the future.

The same is also true for hanging plot threads in other Bounty of the Elements events, Ancient breed releases, and the Beastclans on the Rise storylines. They’re all plotlines set up to launch you into the adventure/campaign feature when it arrives.

This inevitably leads to the big question: Adventure/Campaign: When?

Not in the immediate future. We have no current estimate to provide, as development of the feature hinges on other areas of the site being completed first. What we can tell you is that when we change our team’s development focus to this feature, we will try to let you know as soon as possible.

We’re happy to report that we’re making great progress wrapping up the refactors, the development of many quality of life improvements, and new day-to-day activities that we need to get out to you first. Getting these items addressed keeps the site an active place with regular new content. Big feature development must be weighed and balanced against releases that help keep the site active and enjoyable for our players.

We sincerely apologize to everyone for the long disappearance of Tidelord, and for any frustration or confusion arising from our extended silence on this story thread. We hope both the members of Water Flight and everyone in our community will have the opportunity to engage in story discovery and the resolution to Bounty of the Elements in the future. For now, please enjoy the 2022 Wavecrest Saturnalia!
