TOPIC | Update: Account Security Measures
Hello, Flight Rising community!

Our development team is hard at work on new content, features, and activities for the coming year ahead. In addition to the fun stuff, we're also focusing on everything we can do to make Flight Rising a safe place to play. Specifically, taking steps to help you secure your account to the best of your ability.

In the coming days, we will be implementing some new security measures that aim to further safeguard player accounts from being compromised (sometimes referred to as "hacked" or "raided"). In most cases, account compromises are the result of using a weak password, or re-using the same password on a third-party site which experiences a breach. While no method is entirely watertight in today's digital landscape, we feel it will be another good step in the right direction.

The new measures aim to more precisely detect suspicious login activity, and add an extra layer of authentication to the login process if an anomaly is found. The important thing to know is that this particular measure relies upon the email address registered to your account.

We have to stress this again: the email address attached to your account should be valid, secure, and active. It is the most important conduit you have for getting account assistance from our support team. Using temporary or throwaway email services will prevent us from providing you account help in the future. If you value your Flight Rising account, take the time now before these changes are deployed to make sure your registered email address is updated, secure, and accessible to you.

These measures are not opt-in, and will apply to all accounts on Flight Rising, so we urge everyone to take the following steps in the next few days:
  1. If your registered email address is invalid, change it to one that is.
  2. Change the password for your email service to something complex, secure, and not one you use for other accounts or services.
  3. Change your Flight Rising password to something complex, secure, and not one you use for other accounts or services.
We appreciate everyone's efforts to maintaining account security, as no method is 100% secure. We'd also like to add that this is not the only measure we plan to take; there are multiple efforts in development for the future that we will be implementing as time goes on. Keeping your own information as secure as possible helps everyone.

Thank you!

Hello everyone, we hope you had a safe, healthy, and enjoyable holiday.

Maintenance has concluded and we've implemented some security measures. For you, you should be aware that if it's been some time since you logged in or we see odd looking login attempts for your account, we'll email you a code before granting account access. From there you have to enter the code—sent to your account's registered email address—on the Flight Rising website to verify that it is in fact you attempting to log into your account.

This security measure applies to all accounts as we can't protect inactive accounts with measures that require manual activation by the end-user. It also can't be opted out of at this time due to the ongoing raid attempts.

If you're prompted for a code but do not see one in your email, please check your Spam folder.

Hello everyone! We want to draw your attention to a change we made late yesterday to our Flight Rising Helpdesk portal, also known as our Contact Us page.

For now and the near future, when you submit a ticket, you will be sent an email from flightrising.zendesk.com inviting you to create an account. Please follow the instructions in that email.

When you do, make sure that password is unique. Do not use the same password as you use for Flight Rising or any other service.
This is a separate account from your Flight Rising play account. You will still be able to contact us if you need assistance recovering your Flight Rising play account.

The reason for this change has to do with the fact our helpdesk portal is currently experiencing a spam attack, with thousands of tickets filled with nonsense submitted over a short period of time. These attackers are using what appears to be a botnet in order to circumvent both Zendesk and Cloudflare's automated protections. At this time we do not have reason to believe that this is associated with last week's attack.

We recognize that this is a change, and that while you only have to do it once, it still creates an additional step when submitting a ticket to us, and we apologize for any inconvenience. Thank you for understanding.
