This was the post that really got to me :/
It isn't about being allowed to make really gorey/"intestine-y"/shock skins, no sensible person wants that. We just want to be consistently allowed to depict scars, light wounds, and blood splatter, which should be generally okay according to the rules, but aren't being approved in practice.

Exactly! They're breaking their own rules! I've already sent a rather strongly worded Contact Us missive (no swearing, just ticked the heck off). This is... extremely dumb, to me.

But red is fine! Red skins were accepted last year and previous years too according to the wiki. They just worded it poorly. I word things poorly too sometimes. But they don't mean the color red is just straight up banned. It's not!!!!

You can’t make emotional, hysterical posts on a clarification on red in blood/gore.

Of course I don't know fully about this controversy so I'll try to stay out of it for the most part because I don't actually know the rules about how site skins are accepted. Just being honest :|

No, they really did mean that. It's been a joke among skin artists for some time that 'red is banned' because of how draconian the 'gore' rules are and now they went and confirmed that themselves. There's quite a few thread examples from earlier in the thread if you want to take a look. We aren't exaggerating at all.

I'm worried that this would result in a ban for everyone who makes new threads as it would be circumventing moderation.
Also, hoping everyone realizes that the "cut accent makers slack" thread has been locked

I'm high key mad about this. It's so contradictory with site items that already exist. You have to follow the example of site art yet you cant include blood? Did they forget these exist?
[item=Bloody Arm Bandages][item=Bloody Chest Bandage][item=Bloody Neck Bandage]
You could argue that these dragons aren't suffering but the tooltips contradict that too! "Nasty cuts", "terrible gash", "-and protect the dragon's chest. It doesn't look like it's been doing a great job of that." Any dragon wearing these is a dragon that has been suffering.
This clarification is all well and good but the rules as they've explained them versus the rules in practice seem distant from each other. Asking for no viscera and gore is perfectly reasonable but not allowing even the remotest hint of blood? I've seen people who've used red in a cloud like way get rejected because it was red and was construed as blood.
Staff needs to get a lot less contradictory and a lot more consistent with how they actually implement these rules. Saying one thing and doing another is worthless.

Bloody Arm Bandages
Apparel
Two rolls of white material designed to adorn a dragon's arms, providing support to their wrists and elbows. These have been protecting some nasty cuts.

Bloody Chest Bandage
Apparel
A long strip of white material meant to bind the ribcage and protect the dragon's chest. It doesn't look like it's been doing a great job of that.

Bloody Neck Bandage
Apparel
Strips of white material designed to be wrapped around the wearer's neck. These are stained due to dressing a terrible gash.
