Since we just got the new Obelisk lore and I'm in fire, I was pondering what stone they'd be in statue form. Here's the dilemma:
Would they become a stone that looks firey, or would they become a stone that's made from fire/lava?
Obsidian would be really cool, and I wish that fire's aesthetics were more orange/black than orange/brown (*cough* fix fire's map staff *cough*). It also has a strong association with fire generally speaking. However, it's not colored like fire. I don't really know of any volcanic stone that's red/yellow/orange.
To reiterate the thread title, what stone do you think fire Obelisks would be?

Ohh obsidian would be really cool, I immediately thought basalt when I read the entry, even though it's mentioned for earth
I wonder how much it varies from dragon to dragon? Or if certain materials can overlap from flight to flight?

I mean, magma forms basalt and obsidian and I'd say they'd shift into a rather common stone/mineral from their flight so personally I'd say obsidian (not basalt just due to it overlapping with Earth)
I don't think their statue form has to particularly match their flight's colors completely.

I like volcanic rocks for fire too. I think obsidian is one of the rocks that people instantly recognize as volcanic, but red tuff would be really cool.
Looks wise banded iron formations, goldstone, or red agate with darker stripes...
Actually maybe translucent rocks would be more suitable and there are a lot of orange-red translucent rocks, zircon, topaz, garnet...

Obsidian, or perhaps pumice?

It says the stone is related to flight and personality so I think there's probably room for overlapping (basalt could be Earth or Fire) and variation (Fire could be many kinds of igneous rock or some orange minerals)!

As mentioned, it "relates closely to their flight and personalities" so there's a ton of wiggle room. Fire obbies can turn into whatever you want them to, especially if it fits with your lair. :3 b
If you want to go nuts, nobody said the material had to be solid state or a stone. It could be partially molten magma (think fire egg) if you want to go red/black. Fire dragons also work precious metals, so those are definitely fair game. Red-hot metal could work too.

What about opal? That has volcanic origins iirc.

I like being pinged, but not mass ones.
I often process thoughts by writing... Trying to TL;DR more.

Would like to suggest pumice rocks which are a reddish orange color and are formed from volcanic activity.
