TOPIC | Why save supplies for stage five?

The idea of the hoarded supplies being worth more in the final stage also kinda relies on the fact that while few are hoarding, the majority of the heavy grinders is going full tilt constantly and keeping up the momentum. But if several grinders start hoarding instead of dropping all they have at the current milestone, then inevitably the pace will slow down for the other stages and this will eventually lead to the entire event taking longer than it would compared to if everyone just dropped what they had.
So it’s one of those things that theoretically works but when enough people get the same idea, it turns against itself.

I have to say it's pretty demotivating to see the hoarding too. As someone who's turning in everything I find (except for wooden beams and oil now lol), it feels like one of those group projects in school.

hoping this thread has discouraged hoarding enough to get us to stage 3!

I'm saving stuff because it's just plain going to do more good at phase five than it is now. If phase two is already taking this long even with a fair amount of the userbase still going full steam ahead, and each phase gets progressively harder, then just imagine how long phase five will take--especially considering people are only going to lose interest and energy as time drags on.
It's not "shifting the crawl" so much as it is just plain being prepared. Blowing through phase two isn't going to mean much if we get to phase five and it takes a week or more to get through because everyone's tired, bored, unmotivated, and doesn't have a stockpile of supplies to help move things along.

The items are best served being turned in as they're needed for this event. Min/maxing doesn't benefit the final milestone.

Yea if you're not gonna listen to reason from a rando, try listening to an admin rofl. You are shifting the crawl by hoarding more than: a. what's not needed for the current milestone and b. 1 to keep on hand for a surefire turn in per phase.
If you insist on hoarding you're going to make P3 and P4 take a dang week instead, do you want that? I doubt it.

The only thing I'm hoarding are the materials we don't need to put in currently.

I had no idea people were hoarding. Hopefully this thread will make people turn in items - there's no use stockpiling for the final stage at this moment, we still have a lot of stages to work through and this is going to take an eternity at the current pace we're going. Maybe on stage 4 it will make more sense to set a small portion aside, but there will still be a down period to grind for more materials before stage 5 is manually begun.

As many I've seen in the thread say, what's the point? Hoarding isn't helping anyone and is just making the other stages harder and harder to get to. Super demotivating to see people hoarding stuff just so they can blow past stage 5
