The other night I was trying to flesh out some of the lore for my dragons (since they have basically none) and it got me thinking about hybrids.
I typically like to draw my dragons, and when I know that one of their parents were of a different breed then they were, I like to add little details here and there of that parent, just for fun!
I really was just curious as to if other people do this with their dragons, or if it's just me lol. I know some people don't really like hybrids because what the dragon would look like would be a bit odd, or maybe not for them, but if you do, how do you implement it? Is it just design wise or story wise?

I do love hybrids since they're a pretty cool concept and are even canon (Scribbles is a fae/spiral hybrid, you can tell by the spade on his tail). I figure that if different dragon breeds do breed, hybrids are just one of those things that happen to be inevitable. I don't think I have that many in my lair but I'm inspired to write one in now :)

I do this here and there for my dragons! I think it’s fun and I like seeing when other people do it as well. (Like I have a dragon who is recognizable as a Spiral, but she’s quite big and has bigger horns that aren’t uniform because one of her parents is an Imperial.) It’s mostly story-wise for me, since I’m not an artist. :0

I have a real tough time moving past canon, so I love seeing people's at and lore of hybrids but don't have any myself! I think the closest I come is handwaving some of the sizes - imps, guards and RBs are Big, faes and veils are Small, everything else is Average.

Psst, Scribbles is [i]not[/i] a hybrid. Canonically dragons have much more variation than site art shows, like number of bogsneak fins, and staff have confirmed that Scribbles' tail is just one of those minor variations.

[center]I love hybrids! I've not written much for it so far but Shotglass is a spiral/pearlcatcher hybrid, I just like drawing the fluff. They are soft to the touch and have whiskers! No pearl though.
