[b][color=maroon][size=4]W[/b]hat is that quest, you ask? Well, you see, they have been charged with assisting some of the Plaguebringer's best scientists with their experiments, which is no small task! The Wastelands are full of innovative researchers and the Wyrmwound is quite the source of creative mutations without anyone having to do anything. This QUEST, however, is to find something new: Examples of EXTREME adaptations in places unaffected by the Wastelands natural influences, where the only driving force of adaptation is the most important rule of Plague Flight: [font=courier]SURVIVAL.[/font] [b][color=maroon][size=4]W[/b]hich puts the pack on a quest to find EXTREMOPHILES - creatures that have adapted to the most EXTREME of living conditions. You can find life anywhere, it's said - and these mirrors are going to put that to the test! They're going to search every corner of Sornieth, from the deepest depths of the Sea of a Thousand Currents to the highest peaks of the Crystalspine Reaches. At least one of their crew - Pest, a small mirror with reddish coloring - seems to march with confidence, though that might just be because it lacks the ability to be afraid. It remains in the front of their pack, marching with a steadfast pace through the Tangled Wood, never looking back; trusting with its whole heart that its pack will forever be behind it. The quintet of mirrors continues on, weaving their way along the shore of the Starwood Strand, on their way to their first stop: The Tsunami Flats, where (it is rumored) there are magicians a-plenty who can enchant their little troupe with the ability to survive at the crushing depths of the ocean floor. I love this theme! I am a giant bio nerd, so this kind of stuff is super interesting to me.

"It's quiet," Patho commented, his voice carried to the others on currents of magic that had been woven around the troupe when they'd stood on the edge of the Sea instead of at the bottom of it. "Well, yeah," replied the mosaic-patterned mirror beside him. "We're kind of several thousand leagues under the sea." "At the [i]bottom of the ocean![/i]" Ever enthusiastic, Muta's voice seemed to echo even when it was just bubbles. "Conta says it's the [i]best[/i] place to start looking for extreme fillies." "Extremophiles," corrected Conta, beside xyr. "And I didn't say it was the best place. Just the one where we'd make the biggest [i]splash.[/i]" They raised their brows at the rest of their pack, who stared back at them with flat expressions - all save for Pest, who collapsed, giggling hysterically. "All right," Gino said, reaching to pick up the light that Pest had dropped. "So what are we looking for, exactly?" "Anything that looks strange," Conta answered. "You know. Like something you wouldn't see on the surface." Beside them, Muta gasped, pointing past the pack. "Like that?" The 'that' xey were pointing at was a long, sinuous eel with an unusually wide mouth, the tip of its tail glowing as it drifted through the water. "Yes," Conta said, excitement in their voice. "That looks like a [b]gulper eel[/b]!" "Even water pals know very little about them. Their jaws are actually folded over themselves twice, so when it opens it can take huge amounts of water to pose a bluff, capture loads of little shrimps or maybe hunt fish way bigger than them... tho they have such little teeth that not many are sure if they even eat large fish. They surely can swim fast like a snake, and the inside of their mouths has a special dark coloration that actually absorbs any light, making it invisible even to bioluminiscent prey. Meanwhile their tail is very long, but no one is sure for what, why and how they use its bioluminiscence." "[i]Wow.[/i]" Muta's eyes were round with awe. "So that counts?"
