I can't track down the post right now, but I remember there being an old dev comment about how the breed art is only the "ideal" for each breed and variation occurs across the flights.
What kind of breed variants would there be?
I'm thinking that maybe water variants would have fins or webbed toes, or maybe their tails would be adapted for swimming. Water tundras would have sleek, water-proof fur more like an otter that anything suited for the arctic.
Would plague varieties have tougher hide/thicker scales and boosted immune systems to help survive in the wasteland?

might try to do an earth tun? or something else, idk

MAN would this be amazing
I'd love earth-variants to have kinda gembond? like they grow plates of rock/gems/metals on their backs to protect them from any landslides in cliffy areas, or nature dragons developing mirror-like scales to reflect their surroundings and blend in

Oh, that's so cool! I was having a bit of a hard time thinking of adaptations for nature that wouldn't just be the same as plague, but camouflage is really good! And I might have to try and doodle an earth-variant tun with like, rock-looking fur and armor

I always imagine ice variants of dragons that have fur of any kind, would have EVEN MORE FUR! Like, very fluffy. To keep out the cold. Fluffy imperials, fluffy pearlcatchers, fluffy wildclaws etc~
Ex, fluffy pearl:

Ex, fluffy pearl:
What if some Wind tundras were covered in a thick coat of feathers instead of fur? Not every Wind tundra would have this mutation but some of them would, and the feathers would typically be more colorful than fur.

i'm.. so here for this owo
loved it with pkmn, love it now
the spiral.. and that pearl.. i would definitely own those, and i don't even love regular pearlcatchers that much.
this brings up a good question about what more conceptual flights would have as their adaptations-- like light, shadow, arcane, etc.

lovely lads. would kill to see the water lad in game. (Perhaps for the fire gaoler it could have similar traits to the wraith gene on banescales? Some sort of smoldering or embers still glowing in the pelt?)
