EarthTiger I guess one can specify.. I can make a lot of Gaolers without Gem Genes, or one max. (no need for Crystal or Metallic on em, mostly - for me personally). It's not always easy with Gaolers too, if I am all honest (I rarely revamp dragons fully though)
Banes uh.. Oh no. Oh no. That metallic would make a lot of things work, but I no buying that, haha. I hope that makes more sense? The one boy I have I had to buy Wraith for too.

it is understandable that banes and gaos have so little options. however, now I can't remember when did we got new banescale genes? after their release, gaos stole fins from them and got braids. WHY? just WHY? they already had more terts than banes.
I sorta see why moderns would be first to get genes - idk how many we got since release of banes - but please. as ancients are so limited in choice, can they get bit more attention please. at this moment, geneing moderns is almost painful becausw of so many choices lol
personaly I like banes. idk I just like wyverns. I got bit ehh on getting some more as terts are tricky, so I rather sit and wait for some more. I do like genes, tho I feel like I am constantly being stuck with same combo (my own "fault") haha. I am also looking into skins as I like my ancients to have skins, and they need some more time to pike up in choices and so. gaos were big thing as they were first ancient so uff yepp
I love Banes so much and I think their genes are better than the majority of the other breeds' genes. But they have that edgy & quiet vibe, they can't be very shiny & "tape à l'oeil" which is what people seem to go for nowadays.
I think they might get a new tert if the new ancient (weird to type this out) breed doesn't come out at the end of the year like it was supposed to (which is very very understandable, but also I don't imagine the FR staff just going "welp it's delayed" and having nothing to offer us in the meantime).
Other than that... I'm not so sure? They're just, not really popular.
The way they were launched was bad, too, compared to Gaos. Less room for immediate breeding pairs, so the breed never... really took off, I suppose.
But gosh, I do love a dragon that isn't fluffy & soft looking.

I love banes! I really wish they had more genes though. Why did gaolers get wasp/bee and not banes? The segmentation looks so awkward on their fluffy bodies. Also, banes need fade/blend so they have a more plain primary/secondary set.

I like Banes, they've got a neat design, but I think part of the problem alongside the small pool of available genes for ancient breeds in general (why can't ancients have access to a parallel of all available modern genes too instead of a random handful?) is down to when and how they released the breed.
Banescales released a day or two before the big Night of the nocturne event everyone was hyped up and saving their funds for, and we got unhatched eggs instead of breed change scrolls as the introduction freebie. A lot of people ended up with disappointing or just straight up exalt fodder worthy hatches from their bane eggs.

I absolutely adore Banes, but I understand why some people have issues. There isn't much in the way of customization, and get a bad color combo and you're kinda SOL, no way to get around it unless you wanna drop way too many gems into scattering them. I still love them though ^^

Basically the only tert I like on banes is wraith so like all my banes have it and it's kinda a shame I can't have variety but I just don't really like the other terts :/

Personally, I love banes and they are undoubtedly my favorite ancient that we have gotten so far (really not a fan of fluffy dragons at all). However, I do find myself wishing for more options in genes so that I can shake them up a bit. It's a little disappointing that a dragon with so much raw potential is lacking simply due to lack of individuality that new genes could easily provide.

I love banescales, but it feels like i really cant work with their genes well as adults. its easier for me with babies, but adults? not really

I prefer Banescales over Gaolers- but there's just not much to do with them? Skins are nice and all but the fact they can't wear apparel really makes things harder.
They look cool, but there's not much for them and their popularity will only become worse. I'm surprised the Gaolers made it this far in popularity!
