I mean honestly, no complaints about it here considering this new aesthetic is exactly what I wanna join Arcane for and have a redone Arcane lair entirely for.....
I'd argue that this visual shift kinda reflects the lore better though, considering Arcane lore and general concepts are quite darker in tone than the older art is. So maybe it's just a case of the artists beginning to get a better feel for the flight, especially now they seem to have some new ones on board (just an assumption- since a lot of the new art feels like a new style? And they were hiring scene artists a while back?).
Maybe as new flight specific scenes come out, we'll see some other aesthetic changes! Nothing contradicting lore though, I'm sure.

To be honest, I'm not sure the aesthetic "shift" is a shift at all. I associate bright pinks and pastels with the crystalspine reaches, and the "dark with bioluminescence" aesthetic with the starwood strand. The current batch of items and the newest venue are featuring a side of arcane that we haven't seen as much of, but I don't think that means we won't be seeing more of the bright pinks and whimsical wonder in the future.
Flight aesthetics are flexible.

Arcane has always had the Starwood Strand though, just like Light always had the Hewn City as a darker part of its territory.

I now have Scenes to use, which I had no hope for before. I guess it's branching out?
Good question though. Hm. whyeldritchhorrortho.moreplaguelovesoon?

I’d say it’s less “changing its theme” and more “changing its focus”.

But, I do see the rest of your point. I just wonder what it means for the future- best case scenario, maybe flights like Nature will finally get a cohesive aesthetic beyond "flowers?" Or maybe we'll see the darker side of Water, which has been mentioned but not necessarily shown off. I think I'll be more receptive if every flight broadens its scope a bit, but it's also not hard for me to assume the worst about things kind of... "going missing" over time.

Arcanist is 10 minutes away from causing another apocalypse.

Honestly I like this focus shift a lot better. Bring on the chaos.

I am so happy with this shift it is AWESOME. i love the feeling of change in the world! It makes it feel way more real, and the new aesthetic is gorgeous. I’d move, but I’m totally devoted to the water flight and do not want to rewrite all my lore/change my aesthetic.

I feel like all flights have a 'darker' tone, but some flights seem to be known for their 'lighter tones.'
Earth has skeleton zombies, but most people see it as a barren desert region, mines, instead of all the archeology and crystals it also has. I mean, of course in this way Earth overlaps with Light and Arcane, but multiple flights can have the same aesthetic things? Plague is considered more of a zombie flight than earth is for obvious reasons, but both touch upon the rising dead.
Like how shadow's luminescent lanterns and fireflies overlaps with nature's.
Tbh, this is the same with flight personalities. A plague dragon could be a librarian just like a Light dragon is, but I just don't see it happen as much? Every element has it's own predispositions but y'know, some dragons will show it in some ways more than others.
However, all the same I am guilty for following elemental predispositions and stereotypes a ton. *cough* fire blacksmith *cough* but fire's a lot more than metal working.
TL;DR all our flight aesthetics overlap, and ice doesn't own the prison aesthetic. If I want to lock up shade-touched and innocent people in my basement I will no matter what flight I'm in.
