If you accidentally type a space at the end if the name it'll say it's not allowed.

Yup. When in doubt, double check the entry field for leading and trailing spaces.

I have a breeding pair (my progens) and I name all their hatchlings food names. Like Sugarplum and Bologna and Marmalade.
Anyways, I was naming their newest batch of babies and came across a strangely banned name? It said that the name 'RoastBeef' was not allowed. I have dragons from the same pair named Roast and GroundBeef. I ended up naming this baby Beef, which was allowed as well.
I triple-checked that there were no spaces or accidental characters. So this means that the name RoastBeef is a banned name, but Roast, Beef, and GroundBeef are all allowed. Anyone have ideas why?

Typically, when something odd is banned and it's not a spacing issue, it's because that word may have a slang meaning that is inappropriate or refers to adult concepts of some kind. The dragon you're describing would fall into that category.
