Basic is a beautiful gene. I have couple dragons on my lair that have it. I don't really care if a dragon has basic or not and from the very start of joining FR I decided to keep my clan leader (progen) a triple basic.

Here's a scry of what she would look like if the scattersights worked. I wanted her eyes and the mint ghost gene to be the most striking parts, and I found having a primary gene took attention away from those.

Basic is sometimes best! I'd much rather have a "plain" dragon than an overwhelmingly cluttered one in most cases. (I have a few more with basic terts, but these are my only two with basic primaries and/or secondaries.)

There are so many beautiful skins and lovely apparel pieces that I think using Basic makes so much sense. Plus the money saved on not buying a new gene can go towards dragon outfits c:

Yeah sometimes non-basic genes don't work
Sometimes basic is the best
Cin and Cen are two in particular where basic is best
A lot of the SenBasa dergs are gonna be basic/basic as well, but they're currently lower priority against Breezebob, so some wait

As a G1, I think I value basic a little differently, but I can't deny the beautiful dragons in this thread! If I really like basic on a dragon, I'll use fade if I can, or a less subtle primary.
Like this girl! I wanted something simple for her but I felt that leaving her basic would depreciate her value so I threw fade on her. With either one, she still is pretty cute!
