Brooke is known for being a polite and level-headed voice of reason, though she does get exasperated by the antics of her fellow Exalts. His line of work has made him serious and cynical, but despite that Mason is still devoted to protecting innocent dragons and upholding the law. Ember is naïve due to her young age, but also enthusiastic and eager to learn. She is also very curious, and loves asking her fellow Exalts questions about everything. While Ver De’aer is capable of powerful Wind magic, she prefers to use her talents to propel ships and track winder currents rather than participate in battle directly. His upper-crust upbringing has given him a polite and refined personality, but also made him very sheltered before moving to Water Flight and becoming an Exalt. Her specialities are sneak attacks, ambushes, feints, and false retreats. During peacetime she coordinates the movement and makeup of Exalt patrols, ensuring that Water Flight will be prepared against any surprise attacks. When she’s not on the clock, Nyx has a rather teasing personality, and loves riling up other dragons just to see their reactions. She takes her job very seriously, as she considers it crucial to keeping out any potential diseases and protecting the health of Water Flight as a whole. As such she tends to be nosy and a bit of a worrywart, though her intentions are always good. He has a laid-back personality to the point of being called a slacker, but somehow all his work still gets done on time. Growing up in a poor family thought him to waste not, want not, which is why he took the job in the Recycling Center in the first place. His Arcane upbringing and insatiable curiosity have desensitized him to the horrors dwelling on the uncharted sea floor. As such, he tends to gush enthusiastically about the things he’s seen, not realizing that he’s giving his audience nightmares. Despite this, he is still rather well-liked for his affable personality and eagerness to educate others. [/center]

Ever since I joined the Deep-Sea Exploration branch of the Exalts, every mission has been terribly exciting! For example, one time I was leading a team towards part of the Leviathan Trench – we had received reports from the clans living near the area complaining of a large beast attacking dragons, and my team was sent to investigate.[/columns] [columns][img]https://i.imgur.com/7UfUENQ.png[/img][nextcol]The rumors led us to a poorly-mapped part of the Trench – the Leviathan Trench is unmapped in many places due to its depth and darkness, and part of my job is exploring and mapping these unknown areas – but I digress. Anyways, I was turning the corner around a cliff when suddenly something wrapped around my waist and dragged me away! The next moment, I was eye-to-eye with a giant kraken! [/columns] [columns][img]https://i.imgur.com/7UfUENQ.png[/img][nextcol]This kraken was our mystery assailant – it would ambush lone dragons swimming by and make a meal out of them while they were too surprised to react. It nearly made a meal out of me, but I kept my wits about me and blasted it in the face with a powerful Arcane Bolt! The kraken screeched and recoiled in pain, releasing me in the process. I used that opportunity to call my teammates over while I charged up another spell just in case.[/columns] [columns][img]https://i.imgur.com/7UfUENQ.png[/img][nextcol]It was a fierce battle. The kraken was as large as the largest Guardian in our party, and three times as long. It would grab us with its tentacles and slam us into the rocky cliffs or each other, and we had to constantly avoid its attacks even as we tried to get close enough to attack it with claws, blades and magic. Finally, after blow after blow, we were able to defeat and kill the kraken.[/columns] [columns][img]https://i.imgur.com/7UfUENQ.png[/img][nextcol]A shame, really, that we had to kill it – I would have loved to bring it back to the Spiral Keep for study. That’s all well and good for you Cosmodeus, but for your average Exalt daily life and battles tend to be much more dull. When we actively war against other flights for dominance, battles between Exalts can be on the scale of armies clashing against each other. But those wars nowadays are costly and rarely occur, so most battles are small border skirmishes, if it ever escalates to that point at all.[/columns] [columns][img]https://i.imgur.com/WM4YWux.png[/img][nextcol]Otherwise it’s just drills, patrols, and weapon maintenance to keep your skills sharp. Sometimes you get assigned to security detail, or called on to chase off some thieving Maren, but most of the time life is long stretches of boredom interspersed with brief moments of excitement. I was Exalted to the Tidelord when I was just a hatchling, so for as long as I can remember I was surrounded by Exalts while living in the Spiral Keep.[/columns] [columns][img]https://i.imgur.com/byCHzJm.png[/img][nextcol]Even as a young girl, I found myself drawn to the Seeing Chambers where the Tidelord’s Oracles spend their time seeing into the future and interpreting prophecies. Some of them didn’t approve of a hatchling disturbing their work, but the Head Oracle allowed me to sit in and observe as long as I didn’t disturb the oracles. When I received my first vision, she helped me interpret it and guided me as I learned how to use my Foresight.[/columns] [columns][img]https://i.imgur.com/byCHzJm.png[/img][nextcol]Between the kindness of the oracles and my growing confidence in my Foresight, I always felt a strong connection to the Seeing Chambers. It wasn’t until I reached adulthood that I realized there was more to my feelings – the Seeing Chambers were my Charge, and my instincts were pulling me there so that I could stay close and protect it. As I am now one of the Tidelord’s Oracles myself, I already have to spend most of my time there anyways, so it worked out serendipitously. Some Guardians, like me, find their Charges while Exalted, and have their Exalt duties arranged so that they can stay near their Charge. Other Guardians might bring their Charges with them when they are Exalted, particularly if their Charge is something small like a familiar or a precious stone. There are also Guardians who became Exalts not out of loyalty to their deity or flight, but simply because their Charge was Exalted and so they simply followed them.[/columns] [columns][img]https://i.imgur.com/byCHzJm.png[/img][nextcol]And then there are Guardians who became Exalts…after losing their Charges. Normally a Guardian would waste away in despair after failing to protect their Charges, but these Guardians joined the Exalted in hopes that they could atone for their failure via service to their deity. I…I pity those poor dragons. To have and be certain of a noble purpose you can devote your life to is a wonderful feeling.
