Dummy scientists trying to be helpful-- and, sometimes, succeding. They all have their own personal projects, but work primarily in specialized groups on efforts to help the Water Flight.
Although right now, they're all working as one big team to try and figure out just where Tidedad went [emoji=ridgeback tongue size=1]

My clan is very artistic, with many of its members keeping hoards of artifacts from throughout Sornieth. They get a lot of tourism for this reason. They're also quite militaristic though, being one of the Water Flight's most active exalters. It is from the money gained through war that they are able to afford such lavish hoards.

My lair has like 9 different clans which strive for different purposes but they learn to coexist because it makes them stronger. They probably can't survive without other clans anyway since they're strong together and complet each other extremly well
Th-that’s a very good question. I’m not sure honestly.
It started with Byxis, running away from her past. Something about a romance that went sour and something tragic. Then one by one dragons kept coming to her, either also with similar goals or desire for companionship. And so Byxis established the home they have now.
When ancients came to be, they were unsure of joining with this now small rag-tag village of misfits because of their differences, but appreciate the willingness to accept those that want to. They tend to keep to themselves in their own groups, at least in the case of the Gaolers. The banescale are much more open, and as per norm, do enjoy the company of the few coatls that live here.
We’re not trying to do anything, I don’t think. No real goals. Just trying to live their lives. At least for the moment.

The Clan of Wandering Souls provides a place for travelers to stay, first and foremost. Being located on the border between Lightning, Fire, and Water, they often harbor travelers journeying from those flights. They also strive to help wherever they can in the wake of disaster. They took in refugees from both Fire and the Magmablood Rebellion and the Emperor ravaging Light, and always have their doors open to those in need.
The Sidera Errantia, on the other hand, strive for discovery and knowledge. Traveling Sornieth in search of artefacts and stories, they find great value in wisdom. Learning is highly encouraged, whether it be in science, magic, or something different, if one wishes to learn, the Sidera Errantia will do their best to teach it, or if they too don't know, they will seek an answer.
TL;DR they're all just vibing

Split Heartwood is dedicated to finding dragons attuned to flights which are not those of their origins and giving them a peaceful home where they can do as they like, hopefully with the end goal of benefiting the overall community.
(It also has a secondary mission of capturing horrifying Shade monsters and imprisoning them deep below ground, where they can't harm anyone anymore, but only a couple of dragons know about that. Nobody in Split Heartwood is asked to help with that; they have to find out about it themselves and want to be part of that line of work instead of things like tanning leather or growing food or making jewelry.)

I spent an hour yesterday summing up my lair lore to a friend and lemme put it like this:
It's paradise.
That's it, that's the whole lore. A desert oasis town founded by a foolish gay bodyguard and new clan recruits for her lesbian pirate gf. The time the lore takes place in is the equivalent of 3000 BCE of Earth, specifically Egypt, and it's based on the concept of Sekhet Aaru (Field of Reeds) - the Egyptian heaven. A place where the souls of the worthy are blessed with a beautiful eternity of doing all the good things you could do on Earth, mainly because Egyptians were honest and good people, asking for simple, everyday things as their eternity. That is why "Field of Reeds" makes sense, it's just like Earth but only filled with people who follow the truth and balance.
Of course, the clan itself isn't actual heaven, there's nothing supernatural or magical going on, I completely ignore magic and don't treat it as an actual thing in my lore. The lore consists of pleasant lives and everyday stories of all inhabitants, including their good and bad, fortunate and unfortunate, rich and poor pasts. What they strive for is happiness. That's all there is. The clan's structure is based on a social template and public works are a common thing; everyone can and will help anyone if they're able to, we're all a family (hau) and seeing that the Ancient Egyptian word for clan (m'hau-t) contains the very word for family is such a pure and lovely detail.
That's also why I have many professions I want to feature. I want my clan to have a realistic infrastructure. There are many farmers, there are many crafty people, construction workers, merchants and so on. We need all sorts of professions to be a functional society, but it's mainly based on people's passions and what they want to do with their lives. All life essentials are free to the members but riches are gathered from visitors like merchants, farmers, nomads and soldiers.
