I somehow completely missed that, it definitely looks like an oversight. I wonder if it'll get fixed?
i noticed with my camo metallic bane that he almost seems to have colours for iridescent more than his old metallic
it's absolutely perfect for me, though. if it was his darker metallic i wouldn't have been able to breedchange him

Males look better, but babies look just as unfinished as the females. Even if it was for texture purposes, it still looks wrong...

Huh, I had noticed that Metallic/Alloy looked a lot more like plastic than metal on Banes, but I didn't realize just how bad it looked in comparison.

Oh god yeah they are absolutely not right, that grapefruit bane hatchling really shows it. It looks bad, like they're just completely flat.
I knew something was off about it. Really hoping that they don't leave this alone
Edit: Looking through more colors it appears to maybe be more of a brightness/contrast problem. Darker colors are okay but some layer in the gene file is probably too bright or light or just has the wrong layer style applied so its making everything look wonky. It affects lighter or more bright colors a lot more than darker or more dull colors.

I'm pretty disappointed in it tbh, because I use Metallic and Alloy all the time to darken colors and that isn't present on the banes.
For example my dragon Balthazar. Without Metallic:
