So I recently got a [item=unhatched ice egg]
Should I sell or hatch?
On AH unhatched eggs go for 340g/kt at the lowest and I really need that money to buy a eliminate, other battle stones plus lair extensions.
But then again I can just sit through four and a half days of Glimmer & Gloom to earn that.
I'm curious, what's the chances that you'll get an awesome coloured G1?
People normally say sell because then you can save up currency for the awesome coloured gen1 you actually want without being disappointed. But the curiosity is unbearable. And what if fate gives you the good hand?
What do you do, sell or hatch?
A razor sharp egg crusted in hoarfrost. It is frigid and heavy, encasing a ferocious creature inside. A single crack is snaking its way along the shell.

You can sit through four and half days of Glimmer and Gloom ... and also have an additional 340g that you could use to for projects, or buying a gen1 that you like instead of risking a fodder dragon worth 7g.

Also, take into account that NotN is coming up, and egg prices are gonna dip-- so, if you want to sell it, sell it now before everything goes down.
Though, RNG can be on your side sometimes,,, today I hatched me a Tundra with Jade/Leaf/Seafoam so...
If you really want the eliminate, go for it and sell. Otherwise, try your luck?

aaaaaaa
The odds are... not in your favor. There's 177 colors, thrice, and you're exactly as likely to get a Murk/Lemon/Heather monstrosity as you are to get a moderately matchy XYZ. And the odds are even lower to get a matchy XYZ that you actually like, or a double that isn't also garbage.
I've been playing for almost exactly three years now, and of all the eggs I've ever opened I've kept exactly one.

Work full-time, not on until evenings!
To figure out the odds of hatching something with colors you'll like, go to the Scrying Workshop and hit all three color randomize buttons 10-20 times, and see how often you like the result!
The answer for most people is "not very often". I sell all my eggs. (Except the set that sits in my hoard just because they're pretty.)

I always sell eggs, but that's because I'm picky about colors and have pretty much never hatched something I liked. My two original NOTN Nocturnes were trades for whatever I hatched, so I can't even claim them as successes.
