Something I learned about myself? Well, uh.....
I really, really can't keep an organized lair. Colors everywhere, breeds everywhere, half-finished lore everywhere, offspring lists longer than a spaghetti noodle everywhere.....

I've always had problems with socialising and anxiety, that, and I don't know why, always increase ten fold online. Joining FR has taught me how to engage with the community around me, as it doesn't force me to interact with other players, but fosters a unique community that has made interaction a rewarding experience for me at the same time. I'm still learning, but I'm miles ahead of where I was two years ago.
On a less serious note, I also learned to never trust Baldwin to give you the colour mat you want when there's a brand new recipe. He will always refuse to give you the one thing you need until the prices have tanked.

How much I love organizing things. Whether it's sorting dragons in tabs, clearing out my hoard, coding a forum post or managing the data sheet I made to keep track of my overdressed dragons. I just genuinely want more stuff so I can organize it.

I strongly dislike most reds and pinks, and like blue-green more than green. Green has always been my favorite color until this site. Now it's more abyss and peacock!
I never knew I could draw until I tried drawing the dragons on here.
I also played with BBCode for the first time here... Well any coding, actually.
I have also never stuck with one site/activity/game every single day for as long as this one. I've been on daily since I started. I've only missed two days. In four years!
I also just realized yesterday was my four year anniversary. Dang.

I've learned that I have a deep and abiding love for hosting games and coordinating events that allow other people to have fun together, and the ability to finish slamming something complex together out of thin air in two days if I want.
...I've also learned that this ability only works on select projects. So I can do it to entertain others, but the complex lore that I've had stored in my head that will mostly only get seen by me has yet to be written down after five friggin' years.
I've learned a whole lot more about working with pixel art and gotten more confident in my abilities and in experimenting.
I've learned that my already high levels of patience can be made to stretch across at least half a decade if it's in pursuit of a specific goal.

I learned that not every online game community is bad. In the past I've played similar games, or other online games, and never interacted with the players at all because everyone was so mean and acted like they were better than me just because I was a newbie and didn't have high-end items like they did. Here, when I first joined, I found a few free dragon threads and was almost afraid to ask for one of the dragons, but I did anyway. They gave him to me happily, and a piece of apparel that fit his lore. Now I'm relatively involved in the community here and even met one of my best friends here!
I still have that dragon that I was given as a newbie, almost three years later.

I think that Flight Rising has actually really helped me improve my drawing skills. The presence of versatile, mix-and-match dragon characters with all the types of genes/apparel/accents/etc has made frequent sketching and completing resolved works a fun and constructive possibility.
