oh goodness, i love bright colors

on the more serious side, i was never really able to let my guard down in communities on most games, but the FR community is just so hecking nice and it's really helped me relax :)

Huh, interesting!

Maybe not the answer you're looking for, but I've learned that I will absolutely change my habits to do what other people perceive as cool. Examples include G1s and speaking in lowercase.

Like, osmosis will always be a thing, and hanging in a community means you will slowly adopt its habits over time, but there are things I absolutely did not care about when I first started playing that I now very much do, and I'm pretty sure it was because I felt like not caring or not playing that game made my lair inferior, somehow. Unmatching eyes, basic terts.

Oh, and I've learned that watching people be generous to each other is like... a rush on its own? I enjoy gifting and being gifted, obviously, but on FR I've found I still get that visceral feel-good reaction when I just observe people going out of their way to be nice - random wishlist gifts, scatter donations on scatter projects that didn't turn out well, people helping make up for others' auction house misprices. It's inspiring and just makes me feel good about people, and being a part of this community. (Today I had a really nice encounter where I bought a River Muck for 15kt off the auction house, sent it back telling the person they'd missed a zero, and had it sent back again telling me that the price was intentional and they'd just wanted to be nice. I sent them a boss familiar - people spreading such good feels deserve to be rewarded!)

On a less positive note, I've learned that I have extremely little patience for spammy posts/egregious multi-posts that could have used the edit function. I think I'm judgier than I used to be, or I just find myself exerting more effort to avoid letting disapproval leak into my posts. Maybe that's a function of the relatively laid-back forum rules, and when the rules don't vindicate something I'm used to seeing moderated, it makes me less tolerant of it? Food for thought, if nothing else.

Oh, here's a more interesting one. So coli grinding necessitates spending a lot of time doing a mindless activity, and most people deal with this by having a no-click activity in another screen (or on another device.) I've discovered that I actually prefer to watch the same group of videos than look for new ones. If I do view a new one, I'll add it to my 'list' of things to go back to, but on the whole I much prefer to retread the same entertainment than look for things I haven't seen before. Weird, I know. (Fanfiction remains the sole exception, though of course there's plenty of great stories I love to reread.)

I like fully gened gen1s, (before I didn't think I cared for gen1s) and I realized I like weird color combos that end up looking really nice.
