I like Scales and I have a few dragons with it. I especially like it on Skydancers and Coatls, because it makes them look more bird-like/snake-like respectively.

It looks good on skydancers. That ugly beak part just ruins the entire gene for me though.

Nobody wants to tell you why discipline is so important. Discipline is the strongest form of self-love. It is ignoring current pleasures for bigger rewards to come. It's loving yourself enough to give yourself everything you've ever wanted.
Only works well with matchy colors, with differing colors it looks plastered on.

it's situational, but i like it a lot! i have one dragon i gave it to because he's obs/obs/white and it looks like a mask on him which was pretty much the point :P

I have one dragon I like it on a lot, but most of the time I preview it and it's just not very good. So, cool gene, but definitely very situational.

I love the idea of the gene, but it’s rare for me to see any combinations that look good(a lot of the dragons in this thread look great with it though).
One of my biggest problems with it is how the scales appear to be just “stuck on” or in really weird places and not part of the dragon’s body. The scales on the legs of some dragons look like really weird boots for example. If it were revamped it would look so much better if the scales blended in more with the dragon’s hide. Like maybe having smaller scales on the edges that have a gradient thing going on where it meets the dragon’s hide?
And the big lips thing, that bothers me too lol

I actually have a project that involves scales rn. I only like it in a few cases tho. Saw this gorgeous g1 a bit ago that looked great with scales, but like, the seller wanted me to make an offer so I just never responded lmao.
