TOPIC | Poll: Fodder Rescues
1 2 3 4 5 6 7
Just curious here, would love to see everyone's thoughts re: fodder rescues. I think we've all come across some dragons listed at fodder prices that we couldn't make ourselves exalt, so I wanted to see what people do with 'em, think of 'em, etc.

1. Have you ever rescued a fodder? Why/why not?
1.a. If yes, do you do it often, or just occasionally?
1.b. If yes, do you go out specifically looking for them, or do you just see them spontaneously and can't resist?

2. What makes you decide to rescue a specific dragon? (Is it a particular breed, color combo, name, etc?) [OR if you have never rescued, is there anything that might make you decide to?]

3. What do you do with your fodder rescues? [OR for non-rescuers, what WOULD you do with one, aside from exalt?]

4. How long do you usually keep them? [OR, etc. etc., hypothetically....]

5. Can you share your favorite fodder rescue and/or their story? Why are they your favorite? (I'm super happy to see more than one if you can't choose just 1!) [OR, if you've never rescued, just show me a pretty dragon you're proud of and tell me why :D]

Thanks for sharing, looking forward to seeing all those pretty dragons seeing your answers! :D

1. Yes, basically all of my bought dragons are fodder rescues 1a. At the start, often, but that's reasonable since people fet excited over dragons in the start. Now most of my permas are bred. --- 1b. Hmm... 50/50. My newest save, Pathogen, was for a Halloween-ish style dragon. She's now on my pfp. Creepy, but really cool. 2. Every dragon is valid, expect I tend to look out for dragons what have something I don't have - mostly genes. As of now, I'm missing Giraffe, Opal, Filigree, and some others. Those would be nice to get. 3. Keep them, until I get bored. But most of them have been with me for a loooong time - Lassie was my second bought dragon, and still with me. He was only... 2, gems. Two. Even though he's an XXY with Gem-genes. I don't understand why he was that cheap - unless there was an oopsie in the price calculating. But I'm thankful he didn't end up to someone else who would've even exalted such. Maximilian.

Whaaat, Maximilian is so pretty, he's worth so much more than 2 gems!!! I'm happy you got him, too. :D I actually think Lassie is pretty. Her colors look nice together. Thanks for sharing!

Cici wasn't rescued. I bought her off the auction house at fodder prices, leveled her up with the intention of exalting her, but she decided that she wasn't going to leave my lair. Not only did she stay, but she decided that she needed her own lair tab. You can bask her her awesomeness because she agreed to grace your thread with her presence. I don't do fodder rescues. SpaceDad is awesome and every dragon should be happy to go hang out with him. I've kept other dragons for a while that I eventually decided to exalt. Somehow I feel like Cici is going to be a permanent resident as she amuses me in ways that my other dragons fail.

1. Technically, a lot of my lair is fodder "rescues", because I bought them at fodder price, but most of them I didn't consider rescues for whatever reason. Like, for instance, I bought them before I had a good idea of what fodder was, and was just looking for cheap dragons. When I buy dragons to be fodder (which is not a common occurrence but it's been happening more frequently lately), I'm usually pretty heartless about it, but there was this one time... 2. If a dragon makes me pause or do a double take when I see them, I consider it. I have extremely varied tastes and never know what I might find stunningly pretty/interesting-looking, so I don't have more specific criteria. Also if I found a dragon with an amusing name or interesting lore, that might also be a factor, but that hasn't happened yet - unless you count CathedralOfGreen, who is technically a rescue from my own nest I guess? 3. They go in the "Microlore" tab in my den. That's where any dragons go that I think are neat, but just don't know how to or want to fit into my clan lore. 4. Haven't gotten rid of one yet. I tend to get attached. Sometimes I do fall completely out of love with a dragon - I just never know if/when that will happen. 5. The "one time" I mentioned in question 1? That would be Ash: I sniped her off the AH for 2500t without looking, intending to exalt. But I just... sometimes I can't resist a cute baby Mirror. Especially when they grow up pretty too. I can't explain exactly what makes her so pretty. I could mention the animalistic genes, the Okapi, the bare hint of color in her wings that matches her eyes... I don't know. She caught my eye, so I kept her.

1. Have you ever rescued a fodder? Why/why not? Absolutely. Because of 1.b. (I just can't resist how cute some are!) 1.a. If yes, do you do it often, or just occasionally? Often, but I don't mean to. I just kinda... stumble on things while looking for cheap fodder. 2. What makes you decide to rescue a specific dragon? Do I like it? Do I have an accent for it? Oops! It's already a perma. 3. What do you do with your fodder rescues? Keep. Re-sell if I get bored with them. Train for exalt if the other two options don't work out. 4. How long do you usually keep them? Hnnngh. Some I can keep for years. Others weeks. Sometimes an hour. I'm the worst with impulse control. 5. Can you share your favorite fodder rescue and/or their story? Why are they your favorite? I rescue so often it's kinda hard to remember which were fodder pick ups! So I can't really pick a favorite, but here are a few I do remember. I picked Carlos up around a year ago? For 10k. An XYY unbred 7 digit? He slowly sunk into my lore and he's a major antagonist right now. Love that terrible man. I picked her up as a hatchling for 6k? because, to be fair, she was an ugly duckling. Even as an adult, she wasn't very... appealing. But accents can fix anything, and now she is soft and I love her, too.

1. I rescue fodder more often than I'd like to admit... Usually it's a legitimate "oh no i was gonna boot him to plaguemum but hes too cute" but sometimes I do go out shopping for cute fodder-priced dergs 2. Dude, I have no idea. I guess it just depends if their "character" speaks to me? Sometimes I just look at a dragon and get strong lore vibes, while others are just a pretty pile of pixels that'll be serving Plague soon. 3. Sometimes they end up with a mate, but usually they get to sit in my lair or Hden [s]and serve as a monument to my terrible exalting skills[/s] 4. Uh... I don't think I've gotten rid of one yet :x 5. ALL OF THEM Buuut since I gotta choose and I don't want to drown you, I'll go with Heartspell because hes very pretty I actually leveled him up to 6 in preparation for exalting, but he just never left lol

when i first started all a majority of my lair were fodder rescues haha. nowadays i tend to 'rescue' some fodder by leveling them up to twentyfive and sellin them so that they can at least be sure to go to a good home. if i rescue its mostly through the exalt row thread and even then, i dont usually leave with someone in my hands haha. there's been like five or so dragos i've gotten out of that thread because they were too pretty to resist [emoji=guardian tongue size=1] the ones i've rescued were because they were pretty to me and i couldn't bear to let them be exalted. there's no real criteria, only what catches my eye. i give them some lore n a place to reside in my clan [emoji=guardian laughing size=1] i've only been here for almost a year so that and a couple months for other dragos [emoji=guardian tongue size=1] i've had some that i thought were too pretty to lose at the time but then i grew bored of them so i chucked em off to arcane pops/light mother. 1. Yes, because I've got enough lair space to do so. 1.a. Rarely. I have a hundred or more exalts pass through my lair each week. 1.b. Yes, whenever I run out of candidates for L25 training. 2. It looks great with an accent I already own and is a useful element to use as a trainer. 3. Enjoy them with the accent on them until they're trained to L25. 4. Until they're trained to L25 and the price for L25s is high. 5. My very first rescue is still with me; I needed the breeding achievement and he fit the criteria. I kept him around for fodder breeding until I realized his offspring list hit 100 dragons. Now I'm just breeding him to see how many offspring he can get.
