The Coatl is a reference to the Quetzalcoatl, a figure in Aztec mythology, the winged snake.
"Ket-sel-ko-aht-l"
Unlike Gaolers, the Coatl HAS a pronunciation used outside of FR, and if you know you are mispronouncing it, but are not changing it for sake of habit or headcanon... well, that’s kind of disrespectful...

@SandSeraph gaol is an actual word, so "gaoler" is quite literally just adding -er akin to jail and jailer; just a spelling difference in the end!

I already knew it was pronounced 'jailer' because the word appears in ASOIAF books, but when it comes to our FR Gaolers, I still call them 'gay-olers'.
