[s]Finally, something I have some input on! :D[/s] I'd like to introduce my boy Diaval! Hailing from the Sunbeam Ruins, he was once a well-known preacher, who told magnificent stories about the Lightweaver and how the Light flight would single-handedly defeat the shade and protect Sornieth. He believed wholeheartedly that the Lightweaver was the most powerful deity. But when the sight of Emperors became more and more frequent, he began to spend his days in a church, praying and begging for the Lightweaver to stop the horrors. But when the Emperors continued to rampage and they had destroyed the majority of the area he became resentful. He felt that the Lightweaver had betrayed them, that she intended for this to happen. He was angry and scared. Out of spite and anger, he cut all ties he had with the Light flight (including burning dolls and smashing many marble busts) and left. How he made his way into the Scarred Wasteland is a mystery, although he thinks he was given wrong directions by a stranger. He was clan-less for a while, living off the scarce insects and rotted vegetation that grew. I'm still working on how he actually came into my clan, but all I have so far after is he greatly dislikes the Imperials in my clan. Anteres, Korodorus and Ophiuchus, three of my Imps, catch the most attitude from him because they're part of my clan's guardsmen, and Diaval feels they're a danger to everyone.

now that i've actually sat down and made myself start writing lore for individual dragons, i've found myself incorporating their element into their origins and personality a lot more than i thought i would. here's freisa for example:
Recently instated as Head Councillor of Mist Meadow due to the unforeseen resignation of the last Head Councillor, Freisa rules with minimal tolerance for time-wasters and inefficiency. She presides over Small Council meetings and votes on issues in case of ties. Originally from Greatwyrm's Breach in Dragonhome, she grew up as Freisa Soulgem, a colorful hatchling with an intense curiosity about life in Sornieth, piqued by the historical murals covering the walls of every lair in her parents' clan. The oldest of many siblings in a very poor family, she was first to leave the clan and travel the world, making long-term stops in the Scarred Wasteland and Sunbeam Ruins before setting her eyes on the Viridian Labyrinth. After running into Trouble at the Mist Meadow Trading Post, Freisa decided to venture into the Rosewood Clan, and soon fell in love with this Nature clan, earning their respect and their name. I personally dont have a lot of lore developed for my dragons because im to lazy to write them out,but my clan actually just steals hatchlings from different clans to raise them. I like to think that my Windclaws go out and steal eggs from different nests under the noses of unsuspecting parents.Their latest prizes were a bunch of skydancer hatchlings

[s]aye my first post here! sorry for not doin prompts like these, i've been too lazy to actually write. but now that i am...[/s] The City of Magnolio (or Magnolio City, whichever way you want to put it) is a safe haven for those who have been lost in the Gladekeeper's jungles and rivers. As well as being a sort-of-popular tourist destination, the city also houses many dragons that are not native to the Labyrinth and are from other elements around the globe. Known for his impressive gardening skills as well as being Oak's mate and second-in-command, his Lightning roots can be traced back as far as his oldest ancestor. While adjusting to the City, Autumn found great joy in plant keeping as well as nature in general. His Lightning element did not suppress his interest, it actually made him more interested! Thanks to his small shocks of lightning, he is able to turn nitrogen gas in surrounding soils into nitrates, essential to make proteins in any plant. While he may not be steampunk-ish or an engineer, Autumn finds ways to help nature in any ways he can. Zephyr is a humble traveler, merely just wanting a night's rest after wearily traveling the dense forests surrounding the city. However, he was interest in the abundance of life found and seen around the city, which delayed his flight home for many more days. After several weeks of staying, Zephyr declared Magnolio his home and settled in, in which he befriending and became apart of the Perial Trio. Zephyr is a normal business owner during most of his days here, selling chimes, plants, and jewels native to his homeland for a slightly pretty penny. In his spare time, Zephyr loves to garden, stroll through the surrounding forests, and do taxonomy of the flora and fauna native to the region. He considers himself a taxonomist, though that might just be his slight alter ego since he has no official training. Hailing from the Great Furnace, Helios was always interested in botany since birth. However, since the Furnace is a hub of engineering and not plant studying, his parents urged him to follow in the path all Fire dragons align to: metalworking. Helios was determined not to let up on his dream and thus began traveling around the world, his third stop leading him to the Labyrinth in which he promptly got lost in. After meeting Oak while searching for a way to get out of the forest, he was introduced to Magnolio, in which he feel deeply in love with. Here, Helios could pursue his dream of becoming a botanist without anyone telling him otherwise. Lately, Helios had been messing around with the idea of becoming a scientist, since he wanted to branch out into a broader category. Although he is still undecided, he'd rather wait and see what the future holds for him. After all, he was lucky to stumble across Magnolio. (Bonus: His style of dressing comes from him firmly believing in Shintoism. Although bulky-looking, his clothing helps him from getting too scratched when venturing out for more specimens, as Zephyr suggested once he got here.)

Love this topic choice! I've always had a strange variety of dragons in my lair, and I enjoy having different flights work into my lore, especially since I've moved a few times myself (and have incorporated each of the flights into the environment the clan lives in!) I'm in a pretty good location to have a good variety of flights, and it also helps that my clan isn't set in one specific place, and we have two smaller clan locations, along with a large group of wanderers / nomads, meaning that dragons who are more interested in water are able to live near it on either side, regardless of if they prefer salt or freshwater. Wind dragons are naturally at home, and Nature dragons have adapted easily as it's a pretty similar environment, in my mind at least. Now, for specific dragons: First is Grizma; she's a Plague dragon, the opposite of the flight we just moved from--incidentally, she's the cause of half of the clan's population being decimated, as well as our move from Nature to Wind. However, I like to think that Plague dragons are very adaptable, as sickness seeks to spread everywhere--in Wind, I think she flourishes, actually! (Airborne illnesses, anyone?) I haven't written her lore down yet (man, I need to) but I think of her as an agent of Plaguebringer, sent to spread her particular brand of plague across Sornieth. While the clan naturally suspects she had something to do with the sickness that wiped out half the clan, without proof, she could not be punished, and she continues to live within the clan under the guise of an apothecary, specializing in herbal "remedies" and various potions and poisons. As a Plague dragon, she made the clan anxious (as we were still in Nature when she joined) and everyone kind of held her at arm's length, not that she seemed to mind. She lives on the ground below the floating gardens of the clan, as flying isn't her strong suit. Luyten here is actually a Wind dragon, but I bring her into this particular post because for the longest time, we lived anywhere but in Wind. I got her when I was in my first flight (Arcane), and I like to think of her as the beginning of my actual clan. In my lore, the tale goes that her father (who lived in Wind, but does not belong to me, so I can't say this is his official lore) was the chief of a tribe in Wind, and sent a small group of his own to Arcane, to settle a sister tribe location there. Among them was his daughter, Luyten, who was a very talented warrior, and his son, Xxaven (the two were inseparable, especially since Xxaven's...incident) who was more of an herbalist / healer, and a trusted, skilled but intellectual warrior, Nitesh. Upon arriving to their chosen location, they met my progens, Demetrii and Milanka; however, when Milanka was exalted a short time later and Demetrii became a hermit, Nitesh took over as clan leader and has been such since. Luyten has issues with always wanting to prove herself, and now that she's in her native territory at last, she feels stronger than she has in many, many years. Her time in other territories took its toll on her, as she's no longer elementally aligned properly. It took her a long time to adjust to the (in her own words) abrasive magic of Arcane, and her time in the Starwood Strand kept her awake most nights as the clan's activity shifted in madness, thanks to the influence of the strange flora there. The lack of sleep while in the Arcane territories was the first of many fractures in her elemental alignment. Nature proved much kinder, though the beasts here were much more ferocious, meaning more scars for her to carry. However, the everyday fight stoked the fires within her, bringing life back to her and reinvigorating her after the draining Arcane experience. She stays with the clan (as a wanderer) out of loyalty, though she still aims to be the general of our "armies". She is a respected figure by all in the clan, and is a favorite among hatchlings (whose creations--the birdskull apparel--she wears with pride). An example of someone who HASN'T taken to Wind well is Merlin; back in Nature, he had an expansive vineyard and created wine from it. However, with being forced to move from Nature and nowhere to grow a new one, he's turned into a ghost of himself (mainly as I try to decide whether or not to keep him, since he's so miserable :c ) These Wind dragons have no idea how to have a sophisticated time, and there's nowhere for him to get some nice wine, which is such a frustration for him. He came into my clan with Enitan, and the pair were both welcomed easily as they're very warm, caring dragons, like most of the clan is. Oh, what an interesting prompt! Well, I suppose that the general idea of my clan makes this aspect of lore rather easy for me to work out: my clan simply loves good stories and has a habit of assembling at their castle to exchange them and discuss. Naturally, the more the merrier, and the more diverse dragons, the better the stories. This is why element/breed diversity isn't a problem. Not all dragons participate in this, but even those that do not share their stories come to the castle to listen to the stories of others. This also means that diversity is to be expected in the clan, so any hate based on one's element is minimal, to say the least :) Dragons that stay here know what kind of a clan it is. Of course, every coin has two sides: some dragons that don't have anywhere else to go or would be shunned from most of the other clans were accepted as well. The majority of the clan is made up out of dragons with good intentions and decent to admirable fighting skills, however, and the troublemakers make up a minority, so conflicts aren't common because of this. As far as the dragons that were expelled merely for the lack of skill or similar issues from their previous clans go, oddly enough, the dragons usually manage to find their talent while residing in Clan Wind Chime - and it's often not what they expected it to be. As for those that are troublemakers intentionally and endanger others on purpose (some cases being necromancy, fraud, poisoning food stores etc), needless to say that if an incident was to happen, the troublemaker would be out of the clan in the blink of an eye, granted that they survive the stupidity they wanted to pull off in the first place! So to conclude: Dragons of all breeds and elements are welcome in Clan Wind Chime which takes pride in its diversity, as long as they have good stories to tell, or at the very least, don't make trouble for others. ;)

I have two dragons who were both born into different flights and moved to Shadow. I'm not really sure you could say they adapted since the reason they left their respective flights is because they were more aligned with Shadow traits then that of their own flights. They are: Ezili and Taika Ezili comes from wind and Taika from fire. Both are witches and practice hexes and curses. Ezili is a puppet witch. She hand-makes very fantastic puppets. And sells them to other dragons. The puppets are hexed though, and once the owner looses interest in them, the puppets become animated, searching for and stealing their owner's treasure or valuables. Bringing back their stolen goods to Ezili. Taika's claim to fame are good luck charms. Or so he says. Taika has a very nice small business selling good luck charms. They aren't charmed for good luck though, Taika's best hexes are his eavesdropping charms. He listens in on the dragons who buy his "good luck charms", waits a little while so the bad luck isn't connected to his charms, and then the target dragon is either burgled or blackmailed, depending on what information Taika is able to get. They are far better suited to a flight full of tricksters then either of their birth flights. Being such excellent con dragons.

Am i allowed to join in despite not being on the pinglist? Since my lair is all about variety, their birth element plays a huge role in their lore, whether they play it straight or subvert it :D

I have a lot of dragons from other Flights, but most of them either had no choice due to various problems, or were sent by their parents/found at such a young age it's like they were always from Wind. I do have some exceptions though, such as Shoal. Everbloom Gardens was never truly her place, despite being pampered and spoiled by her original clan - maybe an early sign she didn't belong to her Flight. She jumped from clan to clan, from merchant settlements, from cities, and no one quite believed in the value of her abilities until she reached the Garuda Caravan and followed them back into the main clan. Though she won't stay in the island for too long, she adapted well to the Wind lifestyle, and finds their customs charming. Shoal feels somewhat excluded from some conversations, but this isn't because of the current element - it's all of them, and as usual, she thinks it won't truly feel real unless it's with Light dragons in a Light region. Orchid and Aether introduced her to everyone with Eternity's help, but there's always just a strange nagging feeling that kept the first two from trying to befriend the Bogsneak. She would absolutely leave - if offered a chance to live in a nice place on Sunbeam Ruins once her journey is done. But one would wonder if she'd actually take the offer, though, because Shoal is at the same time obsessed with the Light and guilty for asking for reality to bend to her will. Sometimes she might act even somewhat touchy with dragons from the Flight she truly wants, sometimes she'll cling to Nature and Wind dragons in the vain hope that it makes a difference in her thoughts.
