Imagine, if you will...a Flight Rising sci-fi/space opera AU.
The regions of Sornieth, not as parts of a world, but fleets of ships; each subregion a massive "hub" or "city" ship that individual clans' ships can attach to.
The gods, not deities, but highly advanced AIs that run the most basic and vital processes of the hub ships, and are physically housed in the largest, the flagship of their flight's fleet.
The Trading Post and Auction House, not physical locations, but a neutral fleet of merchant ships that welcome all to board, as long as they have the treasure.
The Coliseum, and by extension, the Gathering Turns; rather than a single location, this is instead expanded to various neutral planets that clans can send teams of dragons to gather resources from. When two or more fleets try to harvest the same planet at the same time? War (Dominance) breaks out.
And dragons who are Exalted are still able to serve their fleet, by having their consciousness uploaded into the dataweb that connects all the ships of their fleet together, to help their god AI run that web and the hub ships more efficiently.
Each flight/fleet varies wildly in how their ships are designed, as well as what kind of specialties they are able to offer to the other fleets.
Earth Fleet ships aren't exactly the fastest, but they are sturdy and long lasting, with very good defenses and the ability to last for a long time with minimal maintenance. Their hub ships contain archives that detail the entire history of dragonkind, from their evolution on Sornieth, to their advancement as civilizations, to their ascension to the stars and beyond. The Pillar of the World was the first hub ship built, its builders dreaming of it being a symbol of dragonkind's advancement and their might; but sadly, it was not meant to be. More information
Fire Fleet ships are the best built among all the fleets, due to the talent and experience of the Fire Smiths. They serve an integral role to the rest of the fleets, building ship parts that can be bought for repairs and maintenance. Just as they are creative, however, they are also destructive, with some of the best weaponry among the fleets. Fire ships have power, propulsion, heating, and forging systems that are all closely tied together, usually all drawing from the same power source, so they've learned how to be efficient with energy. More information
Water Fleet ships are unique in design, built to accommodate weightless living, rather than try to minimize it. Living underwater and living in the depths of space are surprisingly very similar when it comes to movement, which allowed water dragons to embrace their new lifestyle more easily than most other fleets. Of course, living in space poses the risk of weakening bodies, so most ships are flooded with water, with systems in place to ensure oxygen remains evenly distributed, so as to allow water dragons the exercise they need to stay fit. Water ships rival Light ships when it comes to detection and information gathering, though they apply the information they gather mainly for the prediction and planning of near future events. More information
Wind Fleet ships are aerodynamic in shape, making them the fastest of the ships in planetary atmospheres. Unfortunately, this advantage doesn't quite transfer to the vacuum of space, because, well, no air, but it does give them an advantage when it comes to harvesting planets. They also boast some of the best communications technologies among the fleets--something that's very needed, what with their tendency to spread out at times, rather than try to remain together like other fleets. More information
Lightning Fleet ships are the most technologically advanced, capable of feats that are rivaled only by Fire and Arcane ships. One of those advances includes the ability to harvest plasma from stars for energy; in fact, the Lightning Farm and Tempest Spire hub ships are specially designed as plasma harvesters, while the Highland Scrub and Carrion Canyon are designed to store the converted energy. Individual clan ships are able to draw on that stored energy whenever they connect with a hub ship. More information
Ice Fleet ships are...interesting in design in that they weren't originally built to be lived in. The hub ships, especially the Fortress of Ends, were built as cryoships, for the preservation and study of dragons and specimens picked up from various planets as they are discovered. The Ice dragons, however, were somehow able to adapt, and the hub ships are filled with life, both moving and non-moving.
Light Fleet ships, like Earth Fleet ships, having large databases that they use as archives. Rather than the history of dragonkind, however, Light databases are filled with the histories of other species that they've come across. Light ships are also often employed in search and rescue operations, as they have the best detection systems among the fleets.
Shadow Fleet ships are mainly designed with one thing in mind; stealth. They are generally painted in a special coating that absorbs light, and have many systems designed to scramble or otherwise hide from the other fleets' detection systems. Shadow ships will sometimes use this to their advantage to raid other ships, both of other fleets and of other species.
Nature Fleet ships are very, very different in design from most other fleets. They are less constructed and more grown, with a biotechnological design. This gives them one of the most efficient air recycling systems, as well as less of a dependence on planets for some resources than the other fleets.
More Information
Plague Fleet ships, similar to Nature ships, are also biotechnological; unlike Nature ships, however, they make use of fleshy substances for the bio- part, rather than plants. This bio-substance displays not only a resilience to harsh conditions of space, but a potential for thriving in it; it is quickly able to spread onto and into any surface it doesn't already cover, allowing for fast repairs and the "conversion" of non-Plague ships. This gives the fleet as a whole a very "mismatched" look, with no single unifying style in ship design.
Arcane Fleet ships are the most advanced in the implementation of magitek (unlike Lightning ships, which make use of pure technology). This gives their ships abilities that are almost completely unlike that seen in other fleet ships; one such ability is that which allows them to tear a hole in space and "Jump" from one point to another instantaneously. This has proven very useful during their explorations, and has allowed them travel further into unexplored space than any other fleet or species, giving them the largest and most comprehensive starmaps ever drawn.
Psst, if you're part of another flight and have ideas for your corresponding fleet, feel free to leave a comment! I obviously don't really know quite as much about the other flights as I could.

I've started up pinglists for new content for this setting! There is currently one pinglist for art and stories, and one pinglist for roleplay opportunities/news on the potential development of a roleplay group. If you would like to be added to either of these lists, either ping me in this thread or send me a PM to let me know which one(s)!

Don't ask me why these logos have thrusters burning in opposite directions. Maybe they're stabilizers? Also the font is called Skirmisher and is available for free, here: http://www.dafont.com/skirmisher.font
