There were a lot of problems with the initial PPD format, mostly the reliance on volunteers willing to sift through hundreds of entries to find perfect matches. Hopefully, I've come up with a way to both correct that reliance *and* make matches easier to find. I hope.[/color] Welcome, ladies and gentledergs! Are you dissatisfied with the state of your inbox? Here at the Pen Pal Directory, you can sign yourself up to receive a brand spankin' new Pen Pal in one of two exciting varieties: [color= #009999]Interest[/color] and [color=#800080]Roleplay[/color]! [size=5]How to Sign Up as a Pen Pal[/size] ----- [columns]Signing up as a pen pal is pretty straightforward. First, decide what kind of pen pal you want to sign up as. [color= #009999]Interest[/color] pen pals communicate out of character, and might chat about their lives, dragons, and interests. One, sign up as detailed above and select "yes" when asked if you'd like to be matched. [color=darkred]Unfortunately, between the size of the directory and all the RL stuff on my plate, auto-matching is going very slowly...I highly recommend option two![/color] So for option two, check out the directory listings! Switch between them using the tabs on the bottom. If you find someone you'd like to write to, [b]send them a message telling them a little about yourself[/b]. Even if the directory doesn't yet hold that special someone, I highly recommend filling out the pen pal form.[/columns] [size=5]What Happens if you're Matched By Directory Staff.[/size] ----- First off, congratulations! Myself or a helper will send a message to person A with person B's info (the assignment of A and B is random). It will then be person A's responsibility to tell person B that they've been matched, if they think the match is suitable. If not, person A can respond to myself/the helper saying as much. Person B is also allowed to turn down the match, of course! Please be courteous and understand that we are not perfect matchmakers, and it is nothing personal if it doesn't work out. If it does, though, you two can then begin chatting away! [size=5]How to Be Removed from the Directory[/size] ----- Got enough pen pals for now? Changed your mind about the program? No worries! Ping me or a helper and we'll remove you. Also, I guess this is as good a place as any to remind y'all that, as per the mods, TOS still applies in messages (briefly: keep it PG-13). [size=5]I want to help![/size] ----- Awesome! The only way a project like this can succeed is if folks pitch in, and we're glad to get all the help we can! You can become an "official" helper if you like (means you have editing rights on the Directory spreadsheet), or just help "unofficially." Either is immensely appreciated! I just wanted to take a second to reassure you of something. This is a site about breeding dragons and dressing them in sweaters and making silly memes about them. [i]We are all dorks to some extent[/i]. The people in this directory enter their information because they [i]want[/i] to hear from you. This entire thing exists solely because we want more friendships, more relationships, more this and that and the other wizzing through the dark. So don't let it intimidate you. There's no one to impress. There's no grade to receive. There's just you, and me, and a host of other little dorks all across the world forcing mythical beasts to wear poofy clothes.
