I like the idea that dragons need or desire something they have no way to make.

I believe Lightning flight is still researching it, but according to some leaks to other flights, there may be a singular source of all treasure. We don't know who buys the items you sell from your hoard OR who runs the Fairgrounds, so they may in fact be the same entity. And rumor has it Crim has been seen playing Fairground games.
