Please come in! We are OPEN!
The small houseboat rocked wildly as a Guardian dragon surfaced next to it, puffing and blowing. "Next," he called irritably.
A swarm of helpful dragons descended, untying and carefully lifting the oblong package from his back. A small Imperial circled nervously. "Oh, be careful! Watch the end!" The package had slipped perilously close to the neighboring boat-stall, and it was causing the boat to drift nearer.
"We've got it," one of the mages said calmly, casting a barrier spell. The neighbor boat retreated, the package was righted, and the swarm of assistants disappeared into the cabin with their burden. The Guardian waved at the Imperial. "Two left, Tythia, and then I think we're done. You said not the Imperial one, right?"
Tythia nodded and darted into the cabin. Numerous oblong packages the height of a juvenile Guardian leaned against the walls, propped up by physical and magical restraints. The most recent was carefully being lowered into its designated warding under the supervision of an Arcane Pearlcatcher. Tythia landed next to her, watching intently. She hardly noticed the horn sprouting between her eyes or the lengthening of her limbs. "There's two more after this one, Mosa, and then we should be done. Are you sure the wards are strong enough?"
There was a faint metallic click as the package slid into place. "Don't worry," the Pearlcatcher said without turning around. "Every Arcane dragon in the clan, and half the other mages, have been working on this project for months. We wanted to make sure it could be done safely."
Tythia laid a small paw on the thick binding covering the object. "I hope," she muttered. The magical Tidelord-blessed mirrors that had been her life's work to guard had never been removed from their places before. "And I hope everyone is able to keep dragons from crowding. Only one, maybe two at a time."
"We know, Tythia."
"NEXT!" came the shout from outside. A second Guardian with another package bound to her back had arrived.
