Thank you, so much. This was a unique adventure, and it certainly made my first Gala one to remember. Oh, and I will definitely be working this into my lore. I can attract a scientist to my clan now! Sathonyx got some character development! I came up with a derogatory nickname for coatls!

Day 7 Recap:
The group makes it safely back to the surface and shows all of their discoveries to the clan. They then set about making robots and other machines despite none of them being an engineer, because nothing could possibly go wrong with that plan, and gain prestige for the entire clan as dragons from all across Sornieth come to see or purchase their wondrous creations.
Hemlock is happy with the results of the adventure because he gained more interesting items and knowledge for his alchemical experiments, while Madness and Whisper are happy with the results because they didn't die. All in all, a successful expedition!
Full Log:
We spent many hours in our expedition to the surface, and during all of that time, our thoughts were racing with possibilities for the technology we had discovered buried beneath the Fortress of Ends. With this new energy, we could build all sorts of new machines, and we could even begin to create mechanical familiars to assist us in our day-to-day life.
And that is precisely what we did. When we reached the surface, we brought all of our notes and samples to the clan leadership and explained everything we had done and seen in great detail. With clan approval, we began to build a smaller version of that machine, and in the time after we discovered that it did not just run on eternal ice - but on glowing embers and shimmering pinecones and other flights' equivalent magical currencies as well.
Our discoveries brought great wealth and renown to our clan as dragons from all over came to us for high-end gadgets and contraptions. We, The Reluctant Spelunkers, had done well, and our clanmates would remember us for it.
Woo, it's officially over and my dragons didn't royally screw things up! :D I'm so surprised and pleased with them. Way to go, boys!
Thank you so much squidragon for running this event, it's been incredibly fun to get to participate in! All the work you put into it is deeply appreciated. :)

Well, since I've been slacking on this, here's one final post for the road:

Almarkand led the way out of the cavern, blinking as his eyes adjusted to the brightness of the sun. After more than a week underground, seeing the sky again was a bit of a shock. Nerzhul followed close behind the Pearlcatcher, with Etna bringing up the rear, still nursing a cough that she'd gotten from the fungi deep below the surface. Fortunately, it seemed that the worst of that was long over.
"Well, that was quite an adventure," Almarkand said. "Even if we didn't find the secrets you were looking for."
"None of us did," Nerzhul grumbled. Clearly, the Nocturne's hopes of an epic adventure hadn't turned out the way he'd hoped- Almarkand, of all dragons, had taken charge early, and never relinquished the position. "All we found down there is some strange machine we don't even know what it does."
"Perhaps one day we should return," Etna said, as she spread her wings out as far as she could. "I'll bet Chime or Aquila would know more about that device than we could figure out. Still, it's a shame we returned largely empty-handed."
"Not quite," Almarkand said, opening up a bag on his waist. Inside, several small gemstones glittered in the light.
"Why you- why didn't you tell us?" Nerzhul snapped.
"I thought you knew," the Pearlcatcher replied with a smile. "So at the very least, we'll get some treasure out of this. Not bad, huh?"
"Hah," Etna chuckled. "We should have you lead these expeditions more often, Almarkand."
"Ah... I'd rather not," Almarkand said, growing ever more embarrassed with each passing moment. "One trip down into those caves was enough, wouldn't you agree?
"Come on, lets go home. I'm sure the rest of the clan will be wondering where we've been."
And with that said, the trio took to the skies, flying high over the mountains of the Southern Icefield before turning to head back towards the Focal Point. Towards home.

Thanks for hosting this event! It was a lot of fun, even if my dragons never did unlock all the secrets of that machine deep in the caverns. Maybe next time they'll have more luck. :)
