A few days ago, one of my favorite UMA artists released a new series of skincents for sandsurge hatchlings and, friends and dragon-likers, let me tell you, I got got.
I already have my dedicated pistachio+cream dragon collection, and the option was too cute to pass up, so...

I already know her character concept (...and theme song, a choice that evokes childlike imagination and fond nostalgia), have her bio all prettied up... but I still haven't figured out which secondary gene she should have!
So... help me choose?

Meanwhile, diamondback perfectly imitates the little "star" the skincent gives on the dragon's forehead! Plus, I think the coloration comes through a bit better, providing a nice match for the warmer browns in the skincent. I think Bee is nice, but I feel like it leaves her feeling unfinished. Between Seraph and Diamondback, I lean toward Diamondback. It just feels a little more balanced overall with hues and shadow and I do love the mimicking of the star : )

I am going for diamondback too. I particularly like the shape of the markings on the head frills. I am not as fond of the head frills on the seraph.

Thank you both!
I updated the toplevel with your votes; definitely interesting to get these perspectives since the non-FR friends I initially asked were both seraph fans!

If you want to use her as an avatar dragon, I choose Seraph for how it halos her head.

okay this is tough, both seraph and diamondback look great! I love the way seraph works with the skin on her frills and I originally was like "oh its gotta be seraph," but in the end i have to go with diamondback! it just works so well with the skin and makes her look complete and unique!
But really you cant go wrong with either!
I have to agree with user AiDeeKay that bee looks a little to plain and unfinished.
absolutely beautiful dragon omg!!!
edit fixed some minor stuff

Oohh, what a perfect match. I agree with everyone on the good news that you can't go wrong with either :')
I have mixed feelings about the different options, so I'm trying to start from the very beginning, when I opened this thread, saw the dragon, and was like:wow, there isn't even a dragon visible, because it matched the skin so perfectly colour-wise, that I felt it was the skin only. It was a short moment, of course, but I feel like it's important, because I feel like this dragon works in the most magical way exactly when it merges into the skin perfectly.
I'm going to say something about all the options, but I'll start with my final vote as it has to do a lot with my very first impression: I'm going with Bee. Why? Because it is exactly the most subtle option which doesn't distract from the skin, but flows into it in the most natural way, and complements it rather than adding something new (mainly new patterns) to it.
The first option I'd rule out is Seraph. The idea is charming, because it matches the wings and patterns from the skin, but in my eyes it doesn't really work. It's covered to much to be noticable as wings, and therefore create patterns which look slightly off and unnatural. I especially dislike the "halo" patterns on the head fins (they are too hard/dark), and the overall colouration it adds. I also feel like it looks too blurry? As you said, it doesn't really work with Soap.
My second choice would definitely be Diamondback. It's close to Bee, and I do agree with the aspects already mentioned in this thread. It adds visible and nicely matching patterns to the overall dragon, and I also want to emphasize the patterns on the head crest in particular which imitates not only the star but also the feathers/fluffy parts of the skin in my eyes. I love how soft and 'painted' it looks. So, the head fins match perfectly, and I love them very much. However, it gets a bit too dark & busy on the fins the more you go downwards, which makes it feel quite unbalanced as a whole. The parts on her back and especially hips/tail (the end of the tail feels okay to me) are clearly distracting in my eyes.
That's why, ultimately, I'd go with Bee. I don't think it looks unfinished at all, but rather the dragon works with the skin in the best possible complementing way. It stays subtle, and doesn't add too much, but it gives her the right amount of depth and details. It doesn't add too much cream into it, which helps to focus on the skin and brings the skin's details out in a great way. I also love the gentle and fragile impressions it gives her. The fondness and softness comes out so nicely here <3 Last but not least, I also want to add that the subtle patterns match the feathery and fluffy parts of the skin in a wonderful way, too, just as Diamondback - in a more subtle way, sure, but it imitates the skin's patterns in a lovely way. I just really like the pleasant and slightly fragile, ethereal look it gives her.
I hope this helped a bit c:
