Nudibranch is the Chief Alchemist in my clan! She's basically experimenting constantly with throwing stuff and goop into the cauldrons full-time, waiting to see what will come out.
Ides was the "accidental" result of one of her experiments. He's her adopted son. He works out of the alchemy den, but is really more of a blacksmith/metallurgist. (Technically her mate and all her descendants are also part of the alchemy den, but there are...a lot of them.)
Marquise, Bunsen, Skinktongue, and Sunsplash are the four dragons closest to Nudibranch. (I also have at least half a dozen MORE alchemists who are all facet-eyed. Facet-eyed dragons in lore all have vision impairment to different degrees, but they also possess Differentsight; they can "see" unique outcomes to problems, making them great researchers and scientists. As long as they can see what they are doing...)
Marquise is Nudibranch's personal assistant. She's vision impaired and clumsy as a result of that, flying much more slowly than the average Spiral.
Bunsen is her mate and is effectively the janitor; his Arcane upbringing makes him immune to some of the potential magical toxins. He cleans up explosions...and sometimes causes them due to his innate hyperactivity.
Skinktongue is the actual second-in-command; he runs the lab when Nudibranch isn't around. He has mastered his faceted vision and is no longer vision impaired.
Sunsplash is his mate. Being neither facet-eyed nor hyperactive, she occasionally serves as a calming influence on the lab staff. Occasionally.
Clawrice deserves special mention as an inventor. Her self-developed implants serve to not only correct her wonky vision, but also enhance it (infrared vision, x-ray vision, magical ley-line highlights, etc.)
Livewire is a Lightning-trained researcher who focuses on biology research in the field. She's an expert on the native flora and fauna of the Shifting Expanse, and is learning about the Water realm.
Moving in an entirely different direction, Nai and her Servus Observer are researchers in one of the Quarantine Zones in the Plague Flight. What they do is highly ethical...if you are a Plague Necromancer. If you aren't...you might have some questions. The Gaolers featured are two of their research subjects.
