"...Welcome."
You hear her words before your eyes can adjust to the dimly-lit workshop. She's somewhere in the dusty shadows, you can feel her watching. But as you look around, all you see are tables smothered with sewing machines and bolts of moth-eaten fabric. You don't quite feel safe enough to poke around just yet.
Finally you see her.
A Pearlcatcher enters from behind a rickety loom and steps toward you like a predator approaching fallen prey. Even in the darkness of her little store her eyes seem impossibly bright. She's not smiling- she wasn't expecting guests, after all. As she analyzes you, the only sound is her claws drumming against her silvery pearl. There's a kind of restraint in her every move, and you've never felt less safe in your life.

"...Can I help you?" Her words are forced. She wants you to leave as soon as possible, like she's hiding something.

You take a deep breath, and the words are forced out:

Each step must be performed to the exact letter, or dire consequences will follow. First, gather your materials- any color or thread will do. Glass beads filled with Plague magic are the ideal choice for the eyes. Second, using an enchanted silver needle, sew your fabrics together. Locate the previous pages for a list of patterns permitted for the body. Choose a pattern that appeals to you- this will strengthen the link between you and your doll. Take extra caution when sewing the wing patterns, however: the wings of the dragon are the core of their control. Failure to perform the correct patterns will result in a lack of control over your Ragdoll, and could cause it to go awry. Lastly, create a tag for the doll. You may attach a paper tag with string to one of its limbs, or sew a patch of white fabric somewhere on the body. This step is crucial- do not skip it. When you are finished creating your doll, identify a negative emotion or experience in your mind, and locate corresponding ritual in the following chapter. After performing the correct ritual, the negative emotion or experience will be transferred from you, the maker, to the doll. If you have performed the ritual correctly, the name of the negativity will appear on the doll's tag. If the name has not appeared on the tag, it is recommended that you destroy your workspace, the doll, and vacate the area immediately.

You leave the store with your heavy book in hand, not quite sure what you've started. Sitting down on a bench, you open the book and begin to read.

Origins
Ragdolls are small vessels crafted in the likeness of cloth dragon dolls. The materials used to create the dolls varies by dollmaker. It is unknown who discovered the process to make these dolls, though the practice has become very rare over the generations.

As previously stated, Ragdolls are not merely dolls; they are vessels for negative emotions and experiences. Dollmakers can unload years of pent-up negativity by transferring it into a Ragdoll. This process bestows life upon the Ragdoll; however, it is unknown to the extent to which they are sentient or sapient. Additionally it is worth noting that, once a Ragdoll has been created, maintaining control over it is of the utmost importance. All the Ragdoll knows is the negativity that gave it life, which could drive it to violence or cruelty.
Ritual
Making a Ragdoll is an intricate ritual.
