She found Basic in the little paradise of the Everbloom Gardens, and began to make a home with him there. She wasn't consciously aware of it, but her Search still drove her, and left her soul feeling restless. Nesting with her first two eggs silenced this urge, but when her sons struggled out of their eggs sickly and did not survive the night, her discomfort and distraction grew. Afraid to go through the pain of loss again, Conch began to adopt hatchlings in need from all over Sornieth. Conch and Basic were older and stronger, with more support than either of them had ever known, so they risked trying for another child of their own. The Gladekeeper blessed them with a single daughter, Asche, and then, much later when they tried again, three strong sons. After so much hardship, their fortunes had finally changed and they looked forward to expanding their family even more.
