Baojing nods, deep in thought, "...well, not everyone has a soulmate. However, everyone has the ability to love..." She swirls her remaining tea in the bottom of her cup, before setting it down and folding her claws, "... soulmates can also be friends. Anyone you truly, deeply love, and who loves you, and changes you for the better-- they can be soulmates," she picks up her tea and finishes it, "...however, I have yet to find someone who I feel complete with."

He did not want to talk to any of these weirdos. As he sat down, instead of leaning against the seating booth he sat in a somewhat awkward hunched positions just to avoid scraping the furniture there. He began to take small sips of his tea, glaring at the chatting dragons from across the room.

But I have two friends and I love them a lot. Do you think you can have two soulmates?” She asked curiously. Lila and Iris who were milling around nearby looked incredibly flattered by this.

"Here's your cocoa," she announced, placing it in front of Pondskip, "I hope you enjoy. He had definetely seen people who were happier by themselves, but to him this bad mood seemed like more than antisocialness. "Hmm..." he thought, "The amount of customers seems to have slowed down...maybe I can do something to cheer him up?" He thought for a second, then got an idea. with a mischievous smile, he rushed into the kitchen, and came back out holding a packet of ginger tea leaves. Surely Macha wouldn't mind him stealing them--it was for a good cause!! He then made his way over to the Veil's booth, stopping next to him. "Hello,'" he said, "you can relax, you know. Our clan leader enchanted the seats to be impervious to damage. What's your name?"

Baojing looks up, pondering, "...I suppose so, yes. Although there's no "true" way of telling who your soulmate is; if you believe it, then it is true."

Baojing then looks to Macha, and proceeds to summarize what they had been talking about; her quest to find her soulmate, whom she felt in a vision; as well as general discussion on what a soulmate is, and how one may go about finding it. She finishes her concise ramblings with a question of her own.

"In your words, both of you-- what does love truly mean?"

"I guess to me, it's someone who you feel comfortable and safe with, and who feels the same way with you. Someone you don't have to try to hard to just...get along with, you know. Not that a relationship shouldn't take effort, but you should feel happy with that person, you know? You should be able to be yourself with that person. And it doesn't have to be a lover, either. It can be a friend, a family member, a child.... it can be so many things." She scratches at her ear self-consciously. "That's my opinion, anyways."

He leaned back, craning his head back to see if this was actually the case. The odd Veil had been right. Nothing had been scratched or scraped. For once, Serrated felt a slight pang in his chest. How come this hadn't been done back home? A flash of anger flooded his mind. Alum never did anything for him. Alum never did anything for anyone, not unless they confronted him themselves. That shouldn't even need to be something that needed to be done! He should know those things already! "My name's Serrated."

Does that make sense?” She asked. “Well, anyway that’s what I think it is, but it’s different for everyone.”

Baojing looks confused, then curious, looking down at her tea. Two remaining tea leaves float down to the bottom of the porcelain cup. She once again looks out the window, eyes searching, before turning back to her conversation.

"I... understand that feeling very well..." she pauses, taking a breath, "...although I have been so caught up in my search, " she placed her hand over her heart, "...I have forgotten to take in the love of those around me."

Seemingly satisfied with her discussion, she gently hands the cup to Macha, and gives her a solute nod.

"Hourglass will soon want to carry on; I shan't hold him any longer. Thank you so much for the tea, ma'am. It was delicious... and a wonderful drink to converse the topic of love over."

She then faces Pondskip and grasps her paw between her two smaller claws. Looking into her eyes, she says, "I do hope you find your soulmates, too, whoever they may be. Thank you for the conversation-- I will never forget your enthusiasm and brightness." Bao pats her hand one more time before releasing them, nodding to Lila and Iris, and heading towards the door. You can hear the faint call of another dragon as Bao comes into view of the door. Before leaving, she turns one more time to the cafe.

"Thank you all for having me here," she smiles, "I do hope to stop here once again, after my journey is complete."

With that, she exits, leaving behind a hopeful and loving atmosphere. [end]

[thanks for roleplaying with me!!! this is seriously helping me flesh out Baojing's lore. originally, i had wanted to find another dragon for her to have as a soulmate-- but now, I think it would be even cuter for her to be queerplatonic soulmates with hourglass, her lifelong oblivious traveling partner.]
